Post-album songs climbing to #1 BEFORE the music video is very impressive, especially from dance-pop artists. I don't think Marry the Night was even top 50 before its music video, for example. Turn Me On is going to be huge!! It will probably finish in the year-end top 20 of 2012!

Yes, there's definitely a lot of variety in the charts at the moment (at least in the top 20). Whether this is the public's music tastes finally diversifying again, or whether it's just coincidence that several big non-generic hits are happening at the same time, we'll have to wait and see.
