I think it was just nerves and this won't be ending her career. I mean, some of you guys' faves have made careers out of giving ****** live performances so I wouldn't be so quick to throw stones.
Giving subpar DEBUT performances is a no-no. The girl failed.
Lana's vocals will always be underrated and thrown around as "****". She's not loud and she's not the typical powerful voice. She's thin and soft. It's an appreciated beauty that will not be taken up easily like Adele was. Not sure why people expected the same response.
Her studio material will do the look for now but she has a good set of promotion planned to change a few minds. God-willing she will be Grammy nominated next year and that will change things for her. However, SNL's impact is still yet to be seen. Haters should keep it cute until the fat lady sings.
She was horrible. But oh well. I should not judge or be too harsh. My fave has done worse. But.. it wasn't anything to write home about.
I agree completely, Rihanna has done worse, but with Lana you'd expect an amazing vocal performance and with Rihanna you'll expect a fun little promo with simple vocals (if any at all). I'm not judging her or questioning her talent, but Lana could do better and I'm very upset that she didn't give her 110%.
I haven't listened to her before tonight, but I don't think the problem was a poor live performance. She just has a weird voice. That deep vocal was not pleasant.
I'm just going to listen to this and make myself feel better....
This looks like it was filmed and edited. There's a difference between this kind of "live" performance and SNL, where you're thrown before millions of people and you literally have to perform live. No edits, no tinkering. If someone kills it on SNL, that's when you know they're actually a really a good singer.
But I haven't seen this Lana performance. I'm just going off of what everyone else is saying
I feel bad for her because of how she reacted when the first major slew of negativity that welcomed her internet "break". I hope she ignores all the responses for her sake... though for us these reactions are GOLD
