I don't understand ya'll being shocked at You and I's success. Although being entirely different from any other Gaga single ever, it's damn catchy from the very beginning and doesn't let up the whole way through. Marry The Night is flawless, but power ballad's aren't exactly easy listening. I thought it would slay too, but I can't at all of you underestimating Y&I.

It's not that it's NOT a good song but let's be honest. In a chart obsessed with dance music and club hits, you really thought You and I was going to be successful? You and I is an amazing song in my opinion but I didn't think it would hit the top 20 with the type of song it was and from Gaga who hasn't even released a ballad.

edit: It definitely exceeded my expectations.

I agree that it's hard to push a different kind of song (ballad) into the dance-filled charts of the last couple years, but she wouldn't have been the first; In the United States anyway, people eat songs like this up. It recalls Bruce Springsteen and many rock ballads of yesterday; I believed that the female reversal of the classic song scheme of "coming home for your girl" would engage American audiences, and I was right. I'm glad that in such an shaky era this was able to become a mild hit because it shows such a different side to her.

Yes I am glad too that such a different genre of a song from gaga could chart well here. Gaga has definitely upped her audience this era.

I'll just say that I enjoy The Fame and The Fame Monster more than Born This Way.
I don't use all the songs but her first two albums are way more enjoyable than her last one.

As I said, Born This Way is not a bad album but it's exhausting, the tracks are too long and not so enjoyable. It's not a positive mix of factors.
