I actually like the way you split it all between the sections, a bit not sure about the Album Threads issue.

It wasn't the first time Album threads were under the knife in ATRL and we all know how they got back in full swing..So I dunno..

Suggestions:
1. Music News & Base should switch positions on the header since IMO the first category should be reserved for the most prominent section.
2. Why not move posts in an album thread to the respective artists' base thread after a few months instead of closing it?

No one is going to go to Charts to continue discussing the album as an era progresses. I think these Base threads are going to become cluttered with misinformation.

Why don't we start a timeline or calendar which lists single/album releases as the year progresses.

Album threads can't be created until one month before release? That's a bit stupid. Why not just make the compromise that no album threads can be made until a tracklisting and release date have been confirmed, and at least one official single has been released? That would be a lot more fair.

It does make sense. We are used to discuss everything in one thread, now there are more to discuss different things.
It's not hard to understand in my opinion - Music News (Album/single threads): All info regarding the album. Base (the artist's thread): General discussion about anything involving the artist & Chart: Things about the chart performance of the era.

i don't like this. it means that i won't know what artists are up to or if they are about to release something that's only been announced via twitter (or another unofficial channel) unless i am willing to go through pages and pages of discussion in the artist's base thread when i log in. these new rules are just too much

I like it, but there are so many unnecessary threads and pointless polls. I thought it was going to be only for artists. It looks like a Music Lounge, to be quite honest: Every single random thought and poll goes there just for the sake of a hit thread, and not because people really want to discuss their favorite artists.

I would say:
Keep Music News for exclusively music related news and headlines. I agree on that change.
But keep Base for artists-related threads only

The polls can be conducted in the specific artist Base Thread (e.g. "Lady Gaga's best video", etc).

Base looks messy right now.

Yes, but people are using the Base to make polls and more polls. Even the thread for German speakers is clogged in there. It looks too much.
