"Abducted" is my fave song from Cults' debut album. Same with "Dear John". Every time I listen to "Dear John", that video always comes to my mind. And gave me a creepy and uncomfortable feeling, but I just can't help to push repeat.
Nah, I think she has had a lot of change in the way how she sees life now. The piece from New Yorker Magz pretty much said that ( "life is about achieving contentment"..."you're not going to ridiculously happy all the time"). Good if she's moving on, but please Taylor, be more careful next time.

Me too! I didn't like "Dear John" at first, but it grew on me and has become one of my favorite songs. Best 6 minutes of my life!
And that's good. Glad she's being positive. And I hope so, She seems to have bad luck with guys. I mean Joe, John, Jake...maybe she shouldn't date anyone with a J anymore.

I think Tay finally moved on from whatever heartstrings she still had tied to Mayer, and won't revisit it except perhaps in song unless (God forbid) he somehow reinserts himself into her life to try to gain publicity for his next album and manages to pull the wool over her eyes. Whether he would be able to pull that trick I don't know, but I think Tay for now has her heart set on pushing her career to bigger heights, one of which is Les Miserables. I don't know if she will actually get the role, I think Twitch jumped the gun in saying she was offered the role, though I do believe Hooper has a very strong interest in her. The biggest obstacle to her doing that role is her upcoming tour in Australia, the smaller obstacle is if Hooper and/or Universal can be swayed by the ignorant onrush of negative blogs etc by people who have no idea what her audition was like, nor have any idea how good she really can be as an actress.
That Valentines Day movie was an awful attempt to shoehorn her in for tickets, which worked for them, but no one not a fan of her got the punchline; imo she filled the role how she was supposed to, but it absolutely doesn't show what she can do as an actress.

On another thought, it may be just me but it seems like Taylor because of her beauty and young looks has to work much harder to prove herself to the world that most of the other big-name female singers out there. Many adults, commentators seem to have the erroneous idea that they can't admit to liking or praising her music and songwriting without some caveat such as "In spite of (such-and-such,) I like Taylor because" ...
I think with a strongly written script and proper direction and time to execute, if she does get the Eponine role she will show how capable she is and will earn (grudging) praise even from the most pessimistic film and broadway critics. Too bad they won't praise her as lavishly when it happens as they previously denigrated her. .

I had this crazy thought that Hooper may have seen her "Speak Now" tour. Broadway style and all+plus she was very hands on with creating this masterpiece.
...or she just auditioned and blew the competition away...which is what i personally believe what happened.

It's hard for us who haven't known how it feels like to be in that position to like "Dear John" at the first listen, simply because we don't understand. But once you realize how bad of a relationship she has had with Mayer, that song becomes an instant classic from Taylor. Strongest song to date.
To be honest, why in the flipping world she always has a thing for 'J' guys? Jake G., Jake O., Joe J. John M. Oh, and 'K' for Kanye. (J&K - JK? Get it? No? Only me? Okay.)

Nope. You're right. Just look at the fact, Adele (I love her but she's overrated, she's not that great like what people have said). What if Adele is as skinny as Taylor? Do people still worship her like she's the second coming? I bet they won't. Will they appreciate her song like they do now? No, they will say the same thing about Adele like what they said about Taylor (pity-party lover, etc.) Now, will they have the balls to appreciate Taylor as much as they appreciate Adele? Will never happen. We live in a very pathetic society today, we love to tear down people who we have put on the top of the world by ourselves.
Also, people tend to forget that Taylor has been a household name BEFORE the whole Kanye fiasco. And during that time, she has shown her acting chops in CSI, and it was pretty good. A lot of critics gave positive reviews. I know TV & Movie is a whole different league, but at least she does have an experience in acting. As for the whole singing live things, she's getting better. Go read the reviews for her tours. People said Lea has been trained for years in Broadway. Well, flash news. Taylor has been touring for almost 5 years non-stop right now, and I don't count the shows at cafe/bars that she did back when she was 12 - 13 before she moved to Nashville.
People always forgot the fact that Taylor has been built her career in an old fashioned way. And always think her fans are 14 y.o kids. The ignorance level is unbearable at times.

No one knows what move will John pull. I'm afraid he will get into Taylor's life again. But I've heard two songs that were rumoured about Taylor, and both were very sweet. One as the counter-attack for 'Dear John' (Shadow Days), another one for 'Ours' (A Face to Call Home - this one is the sweetest). Things are good again between them I guess.
VD & NYE, both are awful. And both were made by the same director, with identical scripts.

I absolutely love Adele, but yes, she is overrated.
Exactly, I don't know why people say Kanye made her famous, he just made people pity for her. Fearless didn't top the chart for 11 weeks because of Kanye... didn't produce the hit songs because of him...
Her vocal chops have improved, people are commenting on her 'Tonight'... that was two years ago, of course she's improved.

Yes! I was also thinking that, I also think it's because she has the best emotional expression, facially.

When people try to drag Taylor it's just funny, I mean when I see someone drag Katy, about 5% i might see their point, but when people try to drag Taylor, it's just pathetic there's absolutely nothing to drag her for! Why do you want to drag her?? You made very excellent points. And besides Taylor was way famous before the kanye thing. She did win female video of the year before that happened!

I've listened to Adele's 19 & 21. Both are snooze-fest for me, good but boring. Yeah her voice is so pretty, yes she's the real artist, but hell she's not the greatest either!
The irony is: those who jumped in Taylor bandwagon after the whole Kanye thing, have moved to Adele bandwagon and enjoy trashing Taylor. What a ***** move. Ah well, mainstream audience has only 10% of normal people brain after all.

And when you set the fact straight, they get pissed.
Well, I understand that mainstream audience doesn't have the brain to do the research first. But still, opening your mouth when you know nothing, is just showing how ridiculously stupid you are.
Cause actually, you just can't drag people who made it in the old fashioned way like Taylor & Adele.

I love how far under the radar Taylor has been and her non-fans probably think she flopped away. Yet they forget her million fans are thick as thieves and the moment a song of hers pops on itunes, at 1 AM, unannounced, for a soundtrack, it goes #1 on iTunes

+1 I always post on facebook correcting people and instead of looking up to see that I'm correct they just say I'm making stuff up then go right on trashing again. I've started to give up on these people SMH the thing is though years from now these same people will probably love Taylor and be trashing some other future legend lol

We all know how small is the brain capacity of mainstream audience. They know nothing about artistic integrity. Yet, they act like a Rock critic.
I hardly believe that those people will back to Taylor bandwagon, well probably some will. But most of them will move to other future legend. That's why they are called as brainless-bandwagoners.
But the real fans of Taylor (and other real artists), will stay through the years from now. I mean, we've been a fan of Taylor for at least 3 to 4 years now, and I don't see any reason for us to stop being a fan of her in the near future.

I think alot will change their attitude once they grow up lol. Its funny really cause alot of them who insult her about having all these teen fans are in fact teens lol. Most are Jason Aldean fans and I'd say between 15-30 so I find that very humorous lol. There are a few that aren't but I'd say 90% of the haters are just mad that she's doing better than him now. One guy however was very smart he didn't like Taylor but he was still very cool and would help defend whenever someone made something up. He was the only person to make me look like a fool and he's a hardcore indie fan I see Taylor pulling him on our side if this album is anything like Safe and Sound

Hello, everyone.
It's no secret that a lot of people in alternative music scene love Taylor. First, we have St. Vincent (a.k.a Annie Clark), whose latest album managed to get a 9,0 review from Pitchfork. She has put it on record that she loves Taylor, there's a youtube of it from 2009. And just now, I found out that one of my favourite bands, Girls (weird name, but they're great, 2-boys-only band), really wanted to pen songs for Taylor too. Just a little info about Girls: a rock band from SF that managed to get a 9.3 review from Pitchfork for their 2011 release, "Father, Son, Holy Ghost". Oh, here is the proof, from their interview with Spinner. I'll update you more whenever I find a new confession from Indie music God/Goddess.
So, Taylor is much loved by the left field. Not a punchline joke like the other mainstream acts.

And don't forget stupid mainstream media too, i.e: gossip sites.
Jason Aldean fans? lol. He's a joke. Really. I feel bad for his fans.
Now, I need to know that guy you talked about! I think us three can be very good friends. lol. I'm a hardcore indie fan too, I guess most of you guys knew this already based on how much I love to bash mainstream music.
I pray this 4th album will be great enough and Pitchfork will review it, hopefully they'll give 8.0+ review (IF they do review it in the future). So that we can have the strongest here-in-your-face slam to those brainless mainstreamers.
