I think Britney is a more lovable figure then even Madonna. There is just a soft, vulnerability about her that just inspires that feeling within others.

I'm talking about real life, not PR-driven magazine lists. The only current popstar I hear guys talk about wanting to bang is Katy.

Except for the fact that some of those sites, publications and magazines are voted by their male readers...

It's obvious that Britney is still seen as being desirable though. She's always been synonymous with "sexy" and that still persists even post-breakdown and Womanizer and Till The World Ends were both videos where the media picked up on Britney being sexy again.

There were some people rooting for her. There were articles entitled "Save Britney Before It's Too Late." And remember the 2007 VMAs? There were plenty of people saying that it was MTV's fault for letting Britney on stage to make a fool of herself. She gets more respect now because she has gotten her act together while Lindsay Lohan is seeing the jail cell and courtroom every other month.

I think Lindsey is a perfect example. People wanted her to get help but then when she didn't clean up her act the public washed their hands of her.

Believe it or not but many people see her as a survivor and an inspiration while the other half still think it's 2007.
Anyway, Britney has the generational advantage (she defined female pop music in the 00s). Also she has that strange alluring mystique of a flawed and a little bit childlike woman. And you can't manufacture that !
GaGa has been more and more dehumanized by her PR team since she started her career and most people can't relate to her, in any way (except her stans of course)

This. All of it.
