Gaga has proved that she doesn't stand for either of the two. If you genuinely think she's fake and doing it for the fame or something like that...

She often comes off fake to me, yes. Coming off fake and being fake is not one in the same. Gaga often comes off very calculated and highly contrived in my opinion.

And I don't see how Britney is a sweet, normal person and Gaga is an ugly weirdo. They're both sweet, and as far as I can tell, they always have been. Britney isn't normal. She was a 19 year old sex symbol that went through a breakdown the media portrayed as psychotic and now is almost entirely out of the spotlight, except when dragged out into the open by her label for a few distant appearances. Sure, Gaga has built her career on being different, but I'm sure she has more of the public relating to her than Britney. Her Facebook fans should be proof of that. God knows she doesn't actually have 50 million monsters, because if she did, her singles wouldn't be flopping.

This has nothing to do with relevancy ok. We are talking about the connection with the general public, not who is more relevant. If you go look at comments from the general public, most of those comments are going to say Britney is sweet and etc.. and a few haters occasionally are going to insult her. While Gaga in the other hand is very different and she does not connect with everyone, because a lot of people think she's weird. Yeah she connects with people, but not everyone. And I highly doubt more than Britney.

Um, people won't feel related to a girl who sings about dancing till the world ends and ****ing boys in the club. At least not anymore. So many things proved that.
Taylor and Adele, on the other hand, sing about the most relatable topics like being in love and broken hearts. It's obvious that people relate to them way more than Britney or Gaga.

Hmm, Britney, but that's no mean feat. She's still a massive joke/cautionary tale to most of the general public, unfortunately.

Hold It Against Me and Criminal both deal with those topics. Pretty much all of Britney's back catalog are about subjects of the heart. Do you know Britney at all. Regardless Britney is more like Adele and Taylor then Gaga is which was my main point. If you think Adele and Taylor are relatable then logic should be able to lead you to believe Britney (who shares more things in common with them in terms of personality and image) would be more relatable then Gaga who is the complete opposite of them.

The thread is solely about Britney & Gaga. And I assure you the masses relate more to Britney than they do Taylor. Only pre-teen girls relate to Taylor.

You wouldn't say that if she was dressed in a petite black dress, had light makeup and brown hair.
Separate her personal opinions from her persona. Her persona is contrived; she's already admitted to this. It's show-business, it's a job. She enjoys entertaining people through the way she chooses and it was what she was born to do. She was born that way..

Basically. Britney is more likable by default and is more relatable simply because she is a normal girl. It doesn't matter that Britney is shy now because she has always been a down to earth girl/woman who was never impressed by the glam and hollywood. Same can't be said about Gaga her entire purpose in life is to shock, scare and provoke people. Why would someone find that more relatable then a typical ingenue who shops at Walmart and was apart of the every day Middle Class?
|
People don't see Britney as a "typical ingenue who shops at Walmart and is a part of the every day Middle Class."
They see her as a former teen pop princess who partied wildly with Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton, stumbled out of clubs and cars, flashed her crotch every chance she got, did hard drugs, didn't know how to deal with the pressures of fame and ultimately went crazy. Couple that with the lipsyching controversy (even her own fans admit she's pretty much synonymous with it; their ears perk up reflexively every time it's brought up) and she's neither Middle Class nor real and relatable to the Middle Class. As far as I know the Middle Class doesn't party with the wildest of Hollywood ****s like Lindsay and Paris.
This is why when the contestant won that tacky new reality TV show whose name I can't remember, she was told to "keep it real" and not stumble down the Britney Spears path.
But I'm not making an argument for Gaga being relatable either. She clearly isn't.

Also, shut the **** up about how "fake" Gaga is. You don't know ****. She doesn't have one of the most passionate fanbases because of nothing.

The same can easily be applied to Gaga due to her choice of clothing attire.

This is not about sales, facebook or something like that. People relates to Britney more because the world saw Britney growing up since she was only 17. We have lived with her marriages, divorces, pregnancies, meltdowns and everything.

No one said Gaga is fake, at least I know I didn't. I said she often comes off fake, contrived and calculated. But coming off fake and being fake is not the same.
My opinion stands.

No one connects with Lady GaGa because outside of her fans and those that see her interviews -- people think she's a try-hard, uppity bitch that's full of herself and let the fame get to her head.

I meant it's no mean feat having people "connect to you" more than Gaga.
Gaga's entire aesthetic is something designed to be the opposite of approachable, but people do at least recognize her talent.

No they don't. And at you trying to use a brief two year window of her life to try and sum up her entire image as a person/pop star. The whole reason Britney's breakdown was as prolific as it was, is due to the fact that she was a sweet girl from the south who ended up spiraling out of control. Gia, Edie Segwick, Marilyn Monroe and others all have similar stories and all of those women are seen as lovable figures and are remembered for their greatness as much as their downfalls.

The only people say that Lady Gaga is fake is because of her costumes and personality.

Despite underperforming due to the lack of promotion, it's still one of the best-selling albums of the year, and it broke, set, and extended numerous records.
Her engagement with someone who's not even a celebrity (which makes her even more relatable) received a shitload of press. She's been on the cover of every magazine, everyone's wondering what kind of a wedding dress she will wear, what will her kids wear, what kind of a wedding she'll have, E! even reached out to a jeweler to discuss the engagement ring and did a segment on it. Let's not even get into the press surrounding her 30th birthday.
