How can you compare a 1st single to a 5th?

Rolling in the Deep is a British saying about falling in love.
But RITD was not "We could've been rolling in the deep" repeated over. It has more lyrics than just "Gonna marry the night, won't give up on my life..." "I'm gonna marry! The night..." "Muh muh muh marry, muh muh muh marry the night!"

Well, even if were as deep as you make it out to be, it's classic Gaga, it has a catchy hook, and her signature production, and it charted in several countries based on downloads following the album release, which is always a sign a of a future smash.

THIS.
The song is super catchy, I even heard two children (one 3 years, and the other 10 years old) singing the Mah Mah Mah Marry part when MTN came on TV

2 more singles. They should either be:
Radio edit of Scheiße. Less nonsense, more English.
Heavy Metal Lover. For obvious reasons.
Fashion of his Love. A lesser known, radio friendly track.
Highway Unicorn. Radio friendly, could have a great video.

THE DECAY OF THE POP STAR! Something had to inspire that album. Why not do it first hand. **** up your career = give you some good writing material.

Lol, yes! Revamp "Living on the Radio" to become "Evicted from the Radio"!

The biggest problem with Born This Way is that the songs (like Marry the Night) are not that easy to listen to compared to the current radio hits. The songs are heavy. The songs are hard to understand subject wise and even just the words at times. HML would suffer the same way.
While people may not know what "rolling in the deep" means, it is very easy to hear and sing along to. That is where there is a difference.

No one is saying GaGa is done. But she does need to re-invent her sound. She's become...too much. And HML, Scheise and Bloody Mary are some of the LEAST radio friendly songs on BTW. Just no.

Dumb argument. TEOG : "the edge the edge the edge the edge the edge the edge the edge, i'm on the edge"
.............. and this song didn't flop.

The thing is, iconic Gaga is the blonde popstar with the bangs and the stunning outfits. Not the teal artist with the huge mole and wearing weird outfits.
I'm here for her to continue the story she started with The Fame. The next part was The Fame: Monster. I am here for The Fame: Reprise.

I don't care that it flopped, MTN is still my favorite song on BTW.

Interesting. Much better than putting out a desperate remix or discounting it. Keep your dignity, Interscope and Gaga. .

It went top 10 without remix or discount. Build a bridge and get over it.

So I am assuming the song started off with "I'm on the edge of glory, I need a man who thinks it's right when it's so wrong tonight, yeah baby"?

However, Madonna already had four mega-successful albums under her belt by then (as opposed to Gaga's one) and she was an un****withable phenomenon. No other artist has ever done what she did back then.

She's become over-produced. Listen to TF. Simpler production. TFM, more intricate, yet still simple production. Then, listen to Born This Way.

Bad Romance makes no sense at all, and it was still a huge hit.
I mean, I think people are giving excuses for Marry the Night where they shouldn't be given. The inevitable truth that has to arise is that the general public is not receptive to this type of song. I personally think it sounds dissimilar to any other hit she has done so far, and I think that her vocals were terrible.

my point is that a pop song can't become a big hit without radio and what radio needs is a song with plain lines about sex or parties that are easy to understand and sing along to. just open the mediabase thread and look at all the songs that are in the top 20 right now
|
Right. RITD is in the vein of I Will Survive, Believe, Irreplaceable and every other "you ****ed with my heart but I'm stronger than that" female anthem. It's very clearly defined.
