This is true. But none of her previous leads seemed to have had a problem. Going #2, #3, #8, and then #18...But it is still good that Gaga did this with a song like BTW.
It isn't overly her fault, though. I mean 3.4M is a fairly good total for a year end. True, it isn't a Katy Perry or Fame-Gaga total, but it's a lot more than many artists manage. Radios overplayed it at first then let it die quickly due to the overexposure of it. That wasn't Gaga's fault...
Completely untrue. Say what you like about The Fame, but it wasn't generic. There may have been a lot of filler, but the singles were killer and completely different from anything out there at the time. She was new and commercial, which is why she did so well.

I'll never consider her past music brainless pop. Lyrics may have been more generic but at least she wrote all of them. She has the right to consider even Just Dance a personal song while the other pop girls aren't able to put together some basic sentences.

I'm not making excuses. I'm pretty much stating facts. The reason BTW didn't make it to the top 10 Hot 100 Year-End is because of its airplay, which she had no control over. She had the 9th best-selling song of the year, but was dragged to #18 on the overall (airplay and sales) chart because she had no airplay longevity.

I just want an era that mixes BTW with TFM. Musically she has been on point, but her artistry and visuals have been too polarising this era. If she mixed the music of BTW with the videos/fashion/visuals of the Paparazzi-BadRomance-Telephone era, she'd have had a much more massive impact.
