I think it should be blatantly obvious that they're advertising Gaga's video (i.e. giving it away) while recommending you to the singles/albums in order to urge the consumer to purchase the album. Plus, it creates a stronger bond between the consumer and the product (Gaga). They're also exploiting her reputation for highscale music videos in order to garner increased sales.

It's brilliant.

Besides, if it's exclusively to the UK, it's probably in hopes that it'll result in stable album sales because Gaga isn't going to be there promoting for a while.

What discount? The MTN free giveaway? The giveaway only includes a remix and the video, so it doesn't count towards sales, but it isn't responsible for the increase on iTunes
