She does deserve way more respect than she does get. Not saying that she must be worshiped like a goddess, but a lot of the general public (exlcuding her fans, of course) do write her off as another run-of-the-mill, minimally talented pop star. It's pretty mind-boggling to still hear people saying that she can't sing and isn't that great of a performer. And the songwriting/plagiarism controversies don't help, either.
