Album Review:
One of the most anticipated albums of the year is making an appearance on the top 3, and it’s no other than Born This Way by Lady Gaga. I personally anticipated this album since I’m a fan of her music and Lady Gaga did not fail me with regards to this record. Born This Way even sold over a million copies on its first week of release proving that everyone is waiting for the entire content. The album opener ‘Marry The Night’ starts the album with a bang; this song is so catchy especially the chorus part. This is about enjoying the night and leaving your worries behind and this is also a homage to New York City. The much anticipated lead single ‘Born This Way’ started it all; this song is just brilliant which talks about equality regardless of skin color, sexuality, or creed and that every person can fulfill his or her dream. You will agree with me when you remember instantly the song ‘Express Yourself’ by Madonna with this one. The next track ‘Government Hooker’ contains elements of opera music while second single ‘Judas’ is just irresistible to listen to. Despite majority hates it because of the message and using biblical character Judas Iscariot the betrayer, I enjoy the dance beat of this track. The 5th track ‘Americano’ contains Mexican tune accompanied by Spanish lyrics while the 6th track ‘Hair’ is just inspiring. ‘Hair’ talks about expressing freedom through one's hair and Lady Gaga clearly narrates the message of this song; this should’ve been released at some point for this era. ‘Scheiße’, one of the standout tracks contains German lyrics with a message of about feminism. This one should definitely be released as a single. The relatively slow-tempo ‘Bloody Mary’ is up next which contains numerous religious references like Pontius Pilate, Jesus Christ and Mother Mary. ‘Black Jesus † Amen Fashion’, one of the tracks included in the deluxe edition is a addictive pop tune with a reference to the 80’s music while one of my favorites ‘Bad Kids’ tells about despite being a rebel, there is still a good side on you that Gaga likes. The chorus simply narrates it all. ‘Highway Unicorn (Road to Love)’ is next which was influenced with the music of Bruce Springsteen while ‘Heavy Metal Lover’ is an electro-pop produced track. Another favorite of mine would have to be ‘Electric Chapel’ as Lady Gaga sings “Follow me don’t be such a holy fool…”. The electric guitar makes this so good for me. ‘The Queen’ continues the story of the album as it is about bravery. ‘You and I’, which was chosen to be a single, is a rock and roll ballad that contains country music. I have come to like this when it was released and finally the album closes with the beautiful ‘The Edge Of Glory’, a saxophone accompanied tune which is dedicated to her grandfather. Truly, Lady Gaga has established herself as one of the best artists of this time. Born This Way is an enjoyable album from beginning to end and I bet you like at least five tracks of this album. Hands down!
