& while your at it, ask NEwt how in the hell did Namie's collab album which included songs that weren't even hits outsold Utada's farewell best full of big hits
|
Sis this is where the problem comes in. We all like more than one J-pop girl and aren't taking sides.

Flash in the pan? 10 years strong and still going. She made the Top 10 most profitable artist list recently complied by Oricon and she's on her way out? Yeah ok.

She's having a period a re-surged success, is it that hard to understand? She deserves it after the years of flop and basicness.

A flash in the pan whose still slaying the digital charts, selling out arenas and remains one of the top selling solo female acts in Japan.
I don't see Utada doing any of the above

Ugh Newt's Basic responses and KoreanDreams overall ignorance is enough to make this thread boring to me. Ciao Bitches.

You're the most ignorant poster this thread has to offer so let's really not.
Goodbye.

That still doesn't make up for someone as legendary as Utada not being able to outsell a collobartion album with a best album.
& years a flop? It was only like 2 years sis.
She started gradually increasing after her lowest selling album. & basic-ness? Not even.
Namie's period of flop was when she actually took a risk and completely changed her sound and adopted a totally new auidence.
Hardly what I'd call basic.

I guess you're counting all those years she was irrelevant, Britfan
And Uncool, Seiko Matsuda doesn't have any of those things you listed, hell, her first week album sales are like 10-20k and yet, Koda still looks like a bug compared to her just as she does compared to Utada. You can't be suggesting that Koda isn't fading.

Now wait a minute, we're coming for Namie now?
Let me switch gears real quick.
This "years of flop" y'all keep bringing up was just two albums that only spanned over a couple of years. And this period of re-surged success you're trying to shrug off has been going for years now. Let's not pretend.

So guys, I'm trying to familiarize myself with Asian Pop, it feels liek there's this big void inside of my blood that needs to be filled. I'm guessing that familiarizing myself with asian music will fill that hole. But there's just so much I've missed. Kpop Jpop Cpop.. I don't know where to begin.. All I know is that Utada is the almighty queen of Asia, and DBSK is the asian Backstreet Boys.. I love Mirotic btw.. But they're Korean
So... can anyone give me a list of 5 of the most legendary JPop artists out there?

Are you seriously going to use one of MY girls against me? You have NO idea what Seiko has accomplished so leave her name out of your dickridden font. Seiko has accomplished more than Utada as well so you can stop that foolery now.
As far Koda fading Timmy already provided the reasons why she isn't and you still havn't been able to find a decent argument.

**** happens, just as **** happened for Namie (and in a MUCH worse manner) years ago.
Break The Rules - #69 album of the year (2001)
Style - #67 (2003)
Queen of Hip-Pop #27 (2005)
Not even top 20 for a span of at least 4 years

YES sis. Please educate these girls real quick.
Utada and Ayumi stans talk about how Namie's BEST FICTION re-assurange wasn't gonna last yet it's been going for 3+ years now.
I remember when some called it a fluke. I never heard of a fluke lasting this long though

That's all you need to know
But honestly, look up music by Utada, Ayumi Hamasaki, Namie Amuro, and Koda Kumi. I can't think of a 5th at the moment. Mika Nakashima is pretty good! AI is as well!
Edit- There's a bunch of other good non-solo-female artists too but I'm not so familiar with them lol

Ayumi Hamasaki, Hikaru Utada, Namie Amuro and Kumi Koda. And idk what the 5th would be as after that everyone either fell off or is basic as hell ) but I'm not so much on the mainstream J-pop side of things. Maybe someone else will answer you, but you came in the middle of a(not so serious) stan war.
