Sis even I can admit that the hype played a big contribution. She could have released anything. The fact is that BTW was met with negative reviews. Hell, Madonna's Express Yourself was a trending topic on the Twitter the day of its release. I mean, I am glad the song did well and everything (I love it). But she is Lady Gaga. She could have released 'Lick My Toe' as the lead and it would have gone #1 for at least 3 weeks.

To be fair, she did maintain good sales to stay at #1. It wasn't exactly easy for her; there was a lot of competition.

Judging by the Top 40 airplay chart, GaGa will likely at least hit #10, but she's not going to outperform Y&I on that chart.

Not that any of this really matters of course. I personally love the song and video and am proud of her for letting us see her at her most vulnerable. That takes a lot of strength. And there's nothing the song's chart performance can take away from that.
