I hate when people call California Gurls generic. Generic songs don't sell 5 million copies and top the chart for six weeks. And there is absolutely nothing generic about the music video.

With the gap in his teeth? *sigh* Yes. He makes me feel awkward. LMAO. I can't even explain it. HOWEVER. I saw him in Nashville this past June as he somehow ended up attending the same church I did while I visited a friend, LOL! He is better looking now and in person... but still... just an awkwardness about him. Cool info as well... the friend I went to visit married a guy from a Christian band... who toured with Katy Hudson in 2001.. and remembers her....

i don't think Last Friday Night is generic at all. Do generic songs have sax solos in them? Next to E.T., this is one of the best pop songs of 2011. It was #1 for 45 days overall.

Basically it means that the movie, book, song, etc sounds very boring and just like everything else.

AKA Not very unique, lackluster, bubblegum pop.

It's almost impossible to for song that is "not very unique" or "just like everything else" to go 5 X Platinum, because if that were true. Then everything would go 5 X Platinum. The whole idea of being generic is that there are lots of songs like them. Last time I checked lots of songs don't go 5 X platinum.

Altho not every Katy song is autobiographical and can be taken as truth... some certainly is. It's been A LOT of research. Finding proof for things, connecting the dots and knowing and understanding who Katy is. It's one thing to know something cuz someone told you. But it's a whole new and beautiful world to find the facts, the proof, and the dots to connect and come to the conclusion yourself. Or to prove it's wrong. In another life..........
