And all those promotional performances for FF kinda sucked tbh.
Emphasis should be placed on INTERNATIONAL promo, whereas promo done for the Femme Fatale era was all in California. Those shows she did in Europe and Asia, they were broadcast programs very popular in their respective regions.
Promotion from "Circus" wasn't that she didn't do any, it was because she didn't continue to promote after she released the album. From October to December in 2008, her promotion was flawless both stateside and internationally. Circus was released on her birthday and then she immediately went to work on the Circus Tour, abandoning any and all promotion left to do. February 2009 arrives and she's already touring the world, three moths or so after the release.
I think her team starts preparing for the tours way too early. The purpose of promotion is to help sell your album and singles, making everyone aware of your music releases. When it's time for a tour, people remember all the music you released and are aware that you have music out. What do they do? They purchase tickets to your tour. You know there were several people in Europe who weren't even aware she had an album out? That falls on poor marketing and promotions. Everyone knew about her releasing an album in 2008, but in 2011 that wasn't the case. They must do better if they expect to stay relevant.
Her Asian fanbase will dwindle if she continues to neglect them. It's time to right the ship and improve.
i mean u cant compare the worldwide promo with the usa promo for the underwhelmed perfomance of femme fatale when in circus she did only gma and the ellen appearace
Ellen is one of the most popular daytime talk shows and she did a whole skit with her. That's big promo! Do not also forget the much hyped, "Britney: For The Record" documentary or her MTV special that took a look at her career videos. Also they premiered the Womanizer music video on one of the most watched television programs in the US, "60 Minutes".
Britney also made appearances at the tree lightening in Rockefeller Center and the one in LA, both broadcast on national television. She made her charity rounds and visited hospitals/schools to donate funds. Britney also was the spokesperson for "Candies," which provided more exposure and publicity on her part.
Circus promo was flawless, they just quit the promo way too early. She should have promoted the album two more months, one of them being in the US and the other in Europe, Asia, Australia, and S.A.
I will say, I commend her team for trying to promote the album and tour with the tons of interviews she did in London. However, the saying of "little too late" applies for that situation. Promoting the album overseas 6 months after its release was obviously not going to be effective.
Circus is more pop and safe, and was released during christimas, with a really effective strong first comeback single.
Promotion is good yes, but is not like britney is an unknown or relative new artist in process of positionating her name who needs to be promoting everywhere.
Hold it against me is a great track but was a weak first single, is not the type of song that makes people crazy for buying the album, and actually any of the songs on Femme Fatale has the enough potential of a first single, that strong "first single material" track was not created in Femme Fatale. and that was the main problem with it IMO.
I love how the same ****ing people, have the same ****ing conversation every week....
It was old the second time, and is just as stale the 452nd time
But onto more important things....what do you think the next single would be? I think BFB would SMASH radio, but IO would make a hotter video. Your thoughts?

Sadly some of these stans are stuck on repeat...
But I don't need a smash, I just want a good video at this point! She has had a great run of videos, and I would love to see her continue it. So I vote for Inside Out.
I think with How I Roll, Trip To Your Heart, Inside Out, and He About To Lose Me would make the best videos
I think Inside Out and He About To Lose Me would do great with a alternate version, totally not happening but, Eminem on Inside Out or Bruno Marson He About To Lose Me would smash!!

I remember loads complaining about the Circus era promotion and planning wise, but looking back, especially comparing to the Femme Fatale era, everything was so flawless, the promotion she did from the VMAs to the end of December was actually so effective. Even the small things, such as her appearances on ET like when she announced her opening of her official site, so small yet was actually smart unlike the small things her team booked this era like her KCA skit and her short appearance on that UK Quiz show, which aren't even promoting her or her music. And giving her team credit where due, they planned everything out greatly, while this era comes off as a great big rushed mess.
Remember how she made videos on Womanizer and Circus hitting #1, wishing us a happy Christmas, etc
Britney AND her team are the ****ing pits when it came to promotion this era.
If ****ing Oprah summons you for an interview, you take that ****. I don't give a **** about who you are or what you did. It's ****ing Oprah. She's NOT like Diane Sawyer who tries to put people on blast. A Britney+Oprah interview (especially since it was her last season and her ratings were off the charts) would have been a PERFECT promotional opportunity for Britney and would have gotten some of her old causal-fanbase back that still thinks she's crazy!!
The ****ing Grammy's that they snubbed. I don't care what Britney thinks about the Grammy's when it comes to that album and your career you promote that ****. Could you imagine an acoustic version of Hold It Against Me?
Remember when we all sat around watching that Grammy's red carpet show hoping Britney would arrive, and the host was bombared with Britney questions? Britney would have easily stole that night away from everyone -- much like she did at the BBMA with that HORRIBLE and humiliating TTWE cat-walk.
Adam Leber is ****ing trash. And this is just as much Britney's fault because she signs off on this ****. If she wanted to promote, she WOULD have.
Cancelling Ellen? A ****ing mess.
She could have did Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon on top of the skits+performance on Jimmy Kimmel. It's not like Jay and Jimmy Fallon are going to grill her about her conversatorship.
All of Britney's ****ing promotion was done on the SAME WEEKEND, all in the same city. Minimal exposure.
Even President Obama promotes his policies in ****. Jesus promoted his word -- who does Britney think she is by not promoting her stuff?
Sorry, but Britney's causal fan-base is GONE -- and that's who buys albums.
And yes, it's not about sales. However, no sales = no Britney CDs. If Britney isn't selling, then we get no Britney music. So yes, it IS about sales and you will ****ing deal.
And yes, it's also about the music -- but that was **** too. Femme Fatale is already stale not even a year into its lifespan. The only fresh tracks are the first two singles: one of which no one heard after the week of January 14.
We are the ones buying albums. It's not our job to accept every little thing that Britney and her team does and doesn't do. Britney should be pleasing all her fans while trying to gain new ones and she has failed in that aspect. And don't even bring up the Femme Fatale tour.
Not EVERYONE CAN GO TO HER TOUR. It would be nice to actually see Britney on television where she can reach a wider range of people like her fans, casual fans and the general public.
But releasing a mid-tempo after a flop mid-tempo wouldn't be wise, and i doubt britney would even want to shoot another video. I wouldn't be surprised if they turned the video into some anime **** **** as a follow up to Break the ice.

And all those promotional performances for FF kinda sucked tbh.
You're right, I was taking in how much times she performed, cos them 3 appearances gave like 9 times she performed since she performed 3 songs! But even at that, the Circus promotion was more spread out, actually outside the US and she gave good performances for them each time. Same can't be same to FF's performances, which I honestly feel were so bad they hurt the album's sales a little.

I stand by my opinion that hiam was the best single they could'be released from FF as the first single. Could you imagine the kesha comparisons britney would've gotten if she released TTWE as the first single? I can just imagine people saying how desperate she is and jumped on the bandwagon.
I love the praise britney got for releasing HIAM, introducing dubstep to mainstream in america, etc. It underperformed yes, which was unfortunate but it was as epic as the lead single needed to be. It just wouldn't have worked any other way.
I need the stylist, hair and makeup crew from the Circus era September-December 2008 to make an appearance again. Britney was looking like she was in her early 20's again with that crew.
