First, a lot of Americans have yet to see a live performance of MKIA. The only high-profile performance she's had so far is DWTS.
Also, performing WDKY now would make it difficult to choose what to perform at the Grammys should she get a performance. She wouldn't want to perform WDKY again but it would be too early for single 3. The Grammys are only 2.5 months away.
Finally, WDKY won't need as much promo as MKIA. It's going to be able to carry itself for the most part.
I, much like most everyone else, am disappointed not to be seeing a WDKY performance tomorrow, but there is a bright side to this and something tells me we will look back and see this was the right decision.
So she's performing MKIA at the AMA's? I'm not TOO upset tbh. The recent airplay updates have shown that its not dead on radio yet. This is really the perfect way to send the song out with a bang. Hopefully the performance is interesting at least.
She can perform WDKY at XFactor and it will do the same amount of damage. (I'm pretty sure XFactor gets the same ratings as the AMA's). I think it will be better to perform and promote WDKY after the video is released and it gets added to radio anyway.
I remember when she performed AG on the AMA's, the song was released in August also. I was really upset about it and wanted her to do something different but it ended up being one of my favorite performances of the song and got her that epic standing O.
In the end, I trust RCA. (I'm pretty sure this was their decision, they wouldn't leave this type of huge choice up to Kelly or her label.)

Lots of large flash like fixtures on stage with bulbs inside. Camera cutouts. MKIA is being played. 8 male dancers that will most likely be in suits and top hats from what their dancing looked like. Imagine MKIA vaudeville/big band production!!! Initially bummed it wasn't WDKY but SSSUUUUUPEEER excited for this performance now!!! Band going on stage now! Horns on stage!! Einar playing upright bass! Band is all up on an elevated stage behind her. Lots of room for dancers! She is sitting in her seat down front! Trying not to freak out! Haha. I recorded three audios of all her run throughs! Sounded AMAZING! Got my stronger booklet signed! Got a picture! Super nice of course as always. Said she filmed WDKY yesterday and is super tired today. I'm still shaking from it all. I hope you guys liked my updates! Wanted to give back and to my part as a Kelly fan for all the years I've been on here! Said they were considering adding another radio city date since the one sold out so fast. PS- all the haters for her not performing WDKY, I really think you will enjoy the performance. I was on team WDKY but now that I've seen it and heard the production change I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised!
the performance sounds cool. but even if she flew across the stage on the back of a rocket and did like 1,000 back handsprings while singing, I'd still be butthurt she's not singing WDKY. I know that's immature, but it's just the way it is ya'll.
