I also think We All Want Love is amazing. It's a great change of pace from the over sexualized theme of the album. It somehow manages to touch my feelings.

Honestly, I find Birthday Cake desastrous. In the same vein as Peacock. Peacock is just funnier and classier (never thought i'd say that about this song)

I'm not sure how much I like We All Want Love, but I do think something about it has the taste of a classic. I could easily see The Beatles turning it into a classic 40 years ago in an alternate universe.

Rihanna's sixth album is a blast of obnoxious, filth-fuelled pop. Coming only a year after Loud, everything has been turned up, then up again, from its steroidal Ibiza synths to the smutty innuendo – clearly she's decided that S&M's whips and chains were a little on the tame side. So there are exhortations to eat her cake (she doesn't mean cake!) and to lick her persuasion (she doesn't mean persuasion!), although sometimes the metaphors disappear with a laughable shrug, as on Birthday Cake: "Ooh, I want to **** you right now." It works best when the music hall bawdiness is left aside in favour of bleak euphoria, of which there's plenty – the xx-sampling Drunk on Love and the absurdly banging Where Have You Been are particularly fiery, and show exactly why she's at the top of the pop game.

Peacock may be humorous, but it's hardly classy.
Birthday Cake at least does a better job of playing with and disguising it's blatantly obvious metaphor.

Compared with Rated R and even Loud, this seems a very PG affair, with affirmations of romantic love like "Drunk on Love" and "Where Have You Been".

The most extreme, lyrically and musically, is "Cockiness (Love It)", where the invitation to "suck my cockiness" is suspended within Bangladesh's bizarre arrangement, not so much a song structure as a crazy-paving collage of sonic fragments. It's barmy enough to stand out from the routine dubstep/electro beats cooked up by such as Stargate, Calvin Harris and Dr Luke, particularly in the relaxed, dipping groove of "Do Your Thing" and the skeletal, Oriental-sounding marimba progression of "Watch n' Learn". But elsewhere Rihanna struggles to assert her vocal character against a sea of effects: on Harris's "We Found Love", she sounds like a siren in a wind-tunnel, keening and superfluous.
