He chooses to star in super-edgy, critically-acclaimed indies that are too far to the left to appeal to the masses.

Like Drive, which is sure to nab him at least an Oscar nom. AT LEAST.

Although Crazy Stupid Love, co-starring one of the key actresses of our generation, did well at the box office. And naturally for a Ryan Gosling film, it got above-averagre reviews for a rom com.
