(Singles) Goodies vs. Good Girl Gone Bad :

 Goodies (single) - 1x platinum
 1, 2 Step - 1x platinum
 Oh - 1x platinum
 And I - no certification (peak: #96)

 = 3 times platinum

 Umbrella - 3x platinum (3,6 millions sold)
 Disturbia - 4 x platinum
 Don't Stop the Music - 3x platinum
Shut Up and Drive - 1x platinum
Hate That I Love You - 1x platinum
 Take a Bow - 2x platinum
Rehab - no certification (peak: #18)

 = 14 times platinum

 Ciara 1 #1 hit..
 Rihanna 3 #1 hits

 (Albums)

Ciara in her first week - 124,750
Rihanna in her first week - 168,000

Let's not talk about awards. We ALL know who wins. LOL

Yes, Goodies (album) sold little more than GGGB. But come on it was in 2004.. We all know that sales are going down and down every year (in this century) .. And i think that it's unfair to compare sales in only one country, cuz it's the only place where Ciara did better (with cd sales).. Person who made this thread just wanted to shade Rihanna. #FACT

The album starts off generic, well in my opinion. It doesn't start off as a "BANGER" unlike her previous albums. Instead it starts off with the cheeky, You Da One which is very cutesy and much reminiscent to Dr. Luke's other previous song "Teenage Dream", but just not as good. It is radio candy and should be an easy ht but it is quite subpar. Not one of my favorites from Rihanna and not one of the best tracks off the album.

The album is very POP driven in the first part as the second song off the tracklist "Where Have You Been" is a dance floor anthem if their ever was one. The beat, the production and the vocals are all perfect. They mesh so well together and the emotion that oozes over the drums, synths and breakdown makes you literally want to actually breakdown on the floor. Totally outstanding number. The most obvious smash right off the bat on first listen.

"We Found Love" also has that big pop feel production as well like WHYB but falls short of that epic moment. The only outstanding thing about this song is that its one of the most well produced songs on the album and possibly one of the best produced songs in her discography. Seeing as this was the lead single and we already have that amazing video we can relate to it more but if the video never existed or was of that caliber, i probably would have forgotten this. It's still a guilty pleasure though.

Then we have, what is to me the most catchiest and infectious chorus on the entire CD is the title track "Talk That Talk" with Umbrella collaborator Jay-Z. This made for radio collabo is one of the album's standouts. Jay-Z's cocky ass verse paired with rihanna's famous hook singing is a match made in heaven. This is one of the tracks that you know were just made to be a single.

Then we get into the nasty, the dirty, the cheeky Cockiness (Love It). This song contains the most memorable line on the album "Suck my cockiness, Lick my persuasion". This song is a banger. The metaphorical lyrics are hard hitting and the whole tongue in cheek attitude of it is appealing as well. Gladly, Bangladesh didn't give her an "A Milli" remake because this song is so much more than that. Also, Rihanna's flow on this is sickening. The sex talk is also on point in fan favorite "Birthday Cake" but due to its length, it only leaves us wanting more, which is never a bad thing.

Then the tempo slows down on the album for just a bit. She then gives us this haunting upbeat pop ballad "We All Want Love" and coos over the guitar and drum beat driven production. It's not the most groundbreaking ballad but it's still a nice change of pace to the rather uptempo album. Her vocals sound very rich on this one as well as its a more natural song.

The album then goes back to its uptempo nature with the trio "Drunk On Love", 'Roc Me Out" and "Watch N' Learn". All 3 of these songs are bangers and she really nailed that 1-2-3 punch with this one. They all flow together beautifully and dare I say "Drunk On Love" contains one of Rihanna's best vocal performances to date. The way how it just grabs your attention as you press play. You can feel the hunger for love and lust in Drunk On Love " and you can tell Rih has her freak game on point in Watch N' Learn and Roc Me Out. Both Roc Me Out and Watch N' Learn are similar in theme but while Roc Me Out is much more POP friendly WNL takes on a more relaxed 90s reggae demeanor which gives it that Rihanna stamp.

Lastly, the standard edition comes to a close with the emotional ballad "Farewell". The heartfelt lyrics packed with nice vocals makes this one an easy listen and a cute way to end the album. Not one of her best ballads though but it has potential. Overall the album makes a good addition to Rihanna's impressive discography. I expect more #1s from this as it's production was almost tailor made for radio. It's commercial yet somewhat artistic. It's definitely a "RIHANNA" album.

Fave Tracks: Where Have You Been, Drunk On Love, Roc Me Out, Watch N' Learn

 My rating: ★★★★/5

  | I just don't understand how someone can go from being a stan that dedicated to a hater. Like he just woke up one day and decided he hates her.    |

I don't know if that is true or not.  |
