Regardless of what it was or what it was called, she hasnt been heavily used since...the stunt proved she was on the decline anyway...an ICON wouldn't consider some Madonna-esque **** when she hasn't been known for controversy before...
Soul Train and Female Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Awards??? No shade to them but they're laughable for a woman with the credentials of Janet...nobody is taking anything away from her but with the exception of All For You's chart performance, she hasnt had an iconic moment in the 21st Century...

Of course she hasn't. What's your point, though? How many pop stars have had careers as consistent as Janet's? How many of those have had a massive public backlash and then come back from it unscathed? Even in her flop years she's been way more successful than most of the wanna-Beys that have come out in the 2000s.
Janet was never "the" award-winner, like Bey. But you'll note that most of her awards are on par with her peers' (Madonna, Mariah, Celine, Whitney... none of them have way more awards than her, if more at all). The competition in the '80s and '90s was very different. These days, Beyoncé has her awards handed to her on a silver platter, because to committees like the Grammys, she is the only pop star worthy of being showered. A friend of mine said that she gets all those awards because album sales aren't what they used to be and it's the music industry's way of making up for it for their most respected stars. Does that make sense?
And the super bowl was one of the most iconic moments of the twenty-first century so far.
