I am worried about WDKY now. I think its best not to sent for adds right now. Tough competition in SFTTR and Marry The Night.. I am afraid it will be overshadowed :/

I don't think she will get overshadowed by mtn though since it will be send for adds next week? The thing is we don't even know when will wdky be officially released as the second single. We'll see what happen on the ama's. or whether she will sing wdky or mkia or both together!

I hope its a medley of both! Then that way she can promote both at the same time. And then send WDKY to the radio on a later date.

I love how radiant Kelly is looking this era! I think all these promo stops is starting to affect her weight. She looks like she keeps shedding pounds. I don't care as long as she's not overdoing it and her voice remains perfect.

I have complete faith in RCA (for once) this era. Everything else seems to be going pretty well. A whole lot of you were counting out MKIA when it dropped into the 30's of the Hot 100 and what happened with that?

Also, AIEW only sold less than 600,000 more copies after its first two weeks. Do we really want Stronger's trajectory to look like that? I didn't think so

The way it's looking, 'Stronger" won't even reach gold in sales.

Set Fire To The Rain has already sold 700K...while it's digital success will likely still be strong, I don't see it selling the same #'s or lasting as long as Rolling In The Deep, or Someone Like You. Add in the album sales of 21 along with the 700K already sold...and the fact that Adele currently can't sing to promote it...SFTTR might not be the huge multiple weeks at #1 hit that everyone thinks it will become. Remember, Someone Like You didn't really take off on Itunes or radio until she performed it at the VMA's.

As with Marry The Night...I don't really know how successful it will be but if The Edge Of Glory couldn't get to #1 then I don't think Marry The Night will either.

Overall, while SFTTR, and MTN are definitely more competition I think that What Doesn't Kill You could possibly be more successful then both of them...+ I think it would be very interesting to see all 3 of them released around the same time...and then reading about Adele and Gaga fans shocked that WDKY stopped them from going #1

I'm obviously kidding about the era being over, but selling 500k is gonna be a huge uphill battle for this. It's harder to pick up momentum after the album is already out and down the charts than some of you guys seem to think. I'd be happy to eat my words, but this hasn't even surpassed how much AIEW sold in it's first week.

Even Britney who had 3 of the biggest radio hits of her career is struggling to surpass 700k in album sales. There's no guaranteeing that WDKY smashing will push this album past gold.

FTR, "Set Fire To The Rain" will be competition. "Marry The Night" will not.

If What Doesn't Kill You becomes a monster hit, there is no way that people are going to stop her. Heck. Need You Now sold 3 Million + Copies based on one song and I think this is a song that could push Kelly Clarkson over the top.

TBH having another "Angry Kelly" song wasn't the smartest initial release for the album, but it did ensure that some monster smashes could be waiting in the wings and I think 2012 will be her biggest year since the Breakaway era,

"Need You Now" is a completely different scenerio.

It's a crossover hit from a country band and those ALWAYS sell the album. Comparing a country/pop crossover to a pop artist isn't gonna get you anywhere. All big country/pop crossovers sell their albums well (Need You Now did for Lady Antebellum, Before He Cheats did for Carrie's debut, You Belong With Me did for Taylor's Fearless, All of Shania Twain's crossovers did for Come on Over)

I wouldn't call it different at all. Any crossover success for any artist will appeal to more listeners. Kelly Clarkson appealed to a country crowd and has had 2 top 5 hits with country artists. She pops up on Reba's tour stops frequently as well.

You can't tell me that if she released:

Breaking Your Own Heart
The Sun Will Rise
The War is Over

That a hit song would generate her country sales as well. Most people who listen to country (no offense to country fans) are listening to watered down pop music with a fiddle or steel guitar in the mix. The "crossover" effect is nothing more than marketing. If you release a single as a country single it will be played on more radio stations across the US. Therefore, it reaches a larger audience and that is the reason why country sells more than pop. If you go across the US, you are going to find a large part of it gets multiple country stations compared to other formats.
