That doesn't mean anything. Based on the charts, Katy has amassed 4 global hits with at least 500 weeks on the charts. Similarly, Rihanna has 6 songs with at least 500 weeks on global charts. To make Katy out to be some local act is ridiculous. Teenage Dream is doing for Katy what GGGB did for Rihanna.
I didn't say she was local but to compare the two WorldWide is ridiculous. GGGB sold 8 million. TD is at 4.5 with greater selling hits and even more promo.
She's remembered for many more songs than Umbrella. The incident isn't what she's remembered for anymore. She has worked hard enough & seen enough success for it to be less of a prominence in how people remember her.
I admit I'm a little jealous because this could have been my hit thread, opted not to post it when I read it earlier on a blog because I assumed a Rihanna stan would get it closed before it reached 4 pages. Surprised it's still open.

Do you know anything about Latin music? It's more than just using Spanish instruments and speaking Spanish. It's about chord structure/usage, tempo, and beat. Let's not put our ignorant American cap on.
i disagree with this article i think RIhanna is EXACTLY what makes the songs special. she has a unique voice and style. she doesnt hide behind anything.
And she works hard. People can diss her writing credits all they want but she's clearly putting creative input into all her projects, in some way. Plus she is constantly touring, recording, promoting, appearing, endorsing, acting, etc.
at the end of the day all rihanna dream was to MAKE MUSIC. She is living her dream i highly doubt she cares about all the other stuff and what people say about her when it come to her impact on music, She isnt a trained singer, dancer, song writer etc She isn't trained in nothing. She just had this unique voice and loved to sing and that got her reconised and she was allowed to make music and live out what she always wanted to do which was to make muic which is what she ha always said. As much as people bash her for not being this or that. She does what she wants and what makes her happy. The only reason i assume she has started dancing in her performance like wmn is because her fans (including me) constanly go at her to get it together with her performances. So i think she is realising she needs to more than just make music like with all the bts stuff she been giving us, she has started to listent to what we want,
Yeah there is truth in that article. But she is Rihanna and she is known all over the world, has sold out tours and has #1 albums in most countries. I don't know why she hasn't got a #1 in US & a stan it is annoying.
But it's more annoying this people always compare her to beyonce or gaga. She is Rihanna and makes amazing music that her fans apppreciate. And she has so more control over her carrer than what people think. She isnt a label puppet.
