I think one of the reasons critics are hard on Britney is b/c she went through one of the most public ordeals/breakdowns in recent times but her 2 albums following that dark period have shown no signs of it. People love that "heartbreaking, personal" record after they've seen a singer fall from grace.
Look at Xtina - her meltdowns got 1/10 the attention that Britney's did, but everyone is waiting for her her dark year to fuel her creative juices and deliver a powerful album.
Even Rihanna delivered a "somber, personal" album after the Chris Brown incident. Nevermind that she probably had very little to do with it, and that it was probably her label taking advantage of the situation. To people, it was the "therapeutic" album she had to get out of her system.
After that breakdown heard around the world, I think critics and the public wanted (even expected) something similar from Britney.
I agree. I think, or I hope, we'll get her dark album in the future.
I think Britards bombarded Epix because they wanted answers about the, apparently horrid, DVD cover, since they can't get any out of her team. So they're forced to answer like that.

Femme Fatale was going to have another direction in music but it was changed at the very last moment. (Don'tblame it on Jive it wasn't 100% Jive's fault)
Britney has always wanted to recorded a whole R&B style album. (There are several demos that Britney recorded that have a R&B style)
Rebellion was leaked without any permission, Britney wanted to release it (as she did it before with Mona Lisa). The final version does exist but do not expect much its not finished it was a only session record.
Britney do Twitt herself.
Britney is so sweet and lovely ( most people hate her team cause Britney seems to be controlled all the time, Britney is still weak and thats why her team overprotect her all the time)
There are tons of demos that haven't been released ( there are demos you dont even know about). Who can she trust is a great personal song that Britney wrote herself.
Britney do have a cell phone, a personal twitter and facebook account. (If you only knew the nickname you would LOL)
This is the TRUTH, you can take it or not.
"You'll never see it in my way, Because you are not me"
