Anyone know its WW numbers?

As far as I remember it's at about 4.3m WW points.

Nooooo, Michael tweeted something about unfair contracts and people, for whatever illogical reason, thought it had something to do with Boomkack.

Hoping the video doesn't make the single era disappoint though. people have some lofty expectations for it.
|
I mean, I think it's okay to have high expectations since it's Gaga and all, but some people, like I've said so many times before, have such high expectations that they'll never be happy.

Thank you.
Is there a way to translate that into sales or do we just not know?

Well. Some people need to still accept a Bad Romance moment can't be repeated.
But that'll never be realized, who am I kidding.

98% of Gaga's delusional fanbase. And saying it won't be repeated does not mean she's doing poorly or that she won't ever top herself, it means that too many factors were present during Bad Romance that are no longer present now. Most of the Monsters of today fell in love with Gaga because of Bad Romance, so how do people expect her to replicate that initial feeling? You can't. She can't.

Exactly.
That's a big career moment that all artists want, and a lot never even get. The first real "Gaga!" video. Now people expect that level of artistry on all of her work, so it's impossible to suddenly explode with a single like she did back then.

They say that point = airplay + sales +...
But for me the points and sales are almost the same.
BTW (the single), 452K points the first week on MT and 450K in the US the first week.

Paparazzi & Telephone [videos] are just as good as BR imo.

I'm glad you get it. She would have to totally reinvent her image, but the problem with that is that we already expect outlandish videos and crazy costumes, and if she were to ditch all of that, people would get bored because it's what they expect. In a sense, it's all Gaga's fault and she's never going to be able to completely tune things down because of how she labeled herself so early in the game. I feel bad for people who are expecting Bad Romance part 2 with Marry The Night.
Bad Romance's success and game changing ways was a once in a career lifetime thing. Bad Romance is the reason things are the way they are.

I love the Telephone video so much and I think it's one of her best. I also find Bad Romance to be overrated now that I look back on it and compare is to videos like Telephone.

Oh, so is it safe to say TEOG is around 4,000,000 WW? That seems awfully high for some reason, though.

In what way?
In a non-quantifiable way?
I expect its radio performance to be similar (perhaps not better but similar). I doubt it'll sell nearly as well 3X platinum would be a dream for MTN. So it couldn't replicate its sales.

I feel like some fans think Gaga's going to be able to execute another era like Bad Romance and that she's going to have another single that becomes a cultural game changer in the sense of music and how people go about things. Bad Romance basically began this whole "let's be weird now" trend and I don't think Gaga's going to change anything any time soon.
Does that make sense?
I mean, I'm not talking about sales or radio, I suppose, rather the impact.

It seems Gaga's VMA 2011 YuYi performance is no longer on the VMA site.

Paparazzi definately is either level with Bad Romance or better. It deserves so much more love..... and views on youtube for that matter It seriously is amazing.
For some reason after watching Kill Bill I gained a whole new level of respect for Telephone. I love it

So, like I said, "In a non-quantifiable," way.
I think she could "execute" another song era similar to Bad Romance. It'll never be at the level of Bad Romance, though. It's also not on Born This Way. There would be a lot of factors involved too, most of which aren't easily measured.
I think it's possible to have another iconic song like Bad Romance, but I'm highly doubtful of Gaga's ability to make another song of that caliber.

It's funny how people ALWAYS speculate that her new Music Video will be better then Bad Romance.
But once it's released it's NEVER better according to them (even if it is).
I personally think BR is overrated sometimes
