Ur so gay is not in response to tokio hotel. It is about the same relationship the song "mannequin" is about. True the word "gay" wasn't the best adjective to use, but whatever, I don't mind. As for I kissed a girl, it's just a flirty, fun song, no more no less. As for her never kissing a girl, she kissed a girl at the end of each concert on the "hello Katy tour"
Katy perry is no homophobe, her wording isnt always right, but she's got the best intentions. Just look at the firework video. Sorry if you don't like Katy but there's no reason to come in here just to make fans unhappy. If we love her, just leave us alone.
Let's also not forget her original intentions for "peacock" was to be a gay empowering anthem, inspiring the LGBT community to show their "true colors"
I never said Ur So Gay was written in response to Tokio Hotel. I know it's about one of her exes. I said she DEDICATED the song to Tokio Hotel just days after the 2008 VMA's because she was pissed off about losing the Best New Artist Award to them:
Gays are stereotyped everywhere. I'm not saying Katy is the only one to do it, but it's still wrong, and she was rightfully criticized for releasing two songs that were damaging to the LGBTQ agenda. What the **** do you mean "gay wasn't the best adjective to use, but you don't mind"? It's describes a whole group of people and the song completely stereotypes them. If the same was done for a whole race or a whole country or ethnicity, you don't just say "oh, well maybe Katy didn't use the right word"...the word she MEANT to use was something along the lines of "stupid" or "lame". Katy essentially uses "gay" as a synonym for "stupid".
Also, the point of my saying she's never kissed a girl (which she's admitted to many times) is that the song was written not out of genuine bicuriosity or sexual exploration; it was an exploitation of lesbian girl-on-girl action that people view as "hot"....it commodifies an entire group of people and whittles their sexuality down girls just having fun. Katy does NOT have the best intentions, and she never has. Her intentions revolve around making money, and I Kissed A Girl, whether you are capable of understanding it or not, was written to exploit bisexuality to make money. Her entire career has been a history of contradictions and hyprocrisy. So while it's great that Firework is a supposed anthem for outcasts (I'm all for supporting self-empowerment), her next video for "Last Friday Night" caricatures outcasts. Katy has never been genuine, or talented for that matter, and it's sad to see her fans be so unaware of the emptiness beneath her facade.
You know what, you're totally entitle to your opinion. If you think Katy had bad intentions that your propagative, but please don't come where katys fans are and make us upset. Your opinion is just that, an OPINION. and many of the LGBT community, myself included, have a good opinion on Katy.
This is the last post on this dead horse subject, let's get back to The One that Got away
Haven't you thought that if we are not arguing there it's because we don't wanna fight! Just come on!
YES, everyone have their own opinion about an artist but seriously, like SERIOUS! Let the Katy Stans and, specially, Katy Perry, LIVE!
It's like every day a new thread about Katy =Haters calling her hipocrital, fake, can't sing, can't dance, can't sell albums, generic, trashy
GOD! Everyone have their own opinion and as a stan it's hard, but I respect it but you have to learn to respect us too.. Just found a way to respect everyone, no offense to none
I know what haters gonna say, it's almost always like the same but with another words
But just! Let us LIVE! We are supporting an artist that we like, that we love. We were free to choose her. You can support an artist that you can, it's your decision
Puh-lease. I am gay, and I have never found that song remotely offensive. In fact ever since I heard it, I always sung it to myself after I had a disappointing experience with a crush.
I remember someone posted something like that on a GAY forum, and everyone laughed at him for thinking it was offensive.
I don't get what you're looking for in response.
I mean, when a member replies saying "Grow up, nobody cares" you're quick to call them out on being a "typical Katy fan", which is mind boggling because you're the one that came in here looking to start a debate and argument when some of the members are taking the high road and ignoring it because its not worth arguing over, which it really isn't because the argument that you're trying to make is pathetic.
Its funny how people who dislike Katy have no problem pinning her as a homophobe because of some silly lyrics without even doing their research on her actual opinions about gay rights.
Madonna said on a radio interview that she LOVED "Ur So Gay", so now I'm guessing Madonna, the gay icon is also a homophobe for liking the song?
Lady Gaga and Katy were good friends when Ur So Gay was released, shouldn't you be calling out Gaga on being friends with a "homophobe"?
Stop trying to cause a stir by labeling Katy with something so stupid. I mean if you've lost all the stan wars trying to bring Katy down that you've had to resort to this...then I'm sad for you

*I'll add more to this later.
LMAO at you thinking you speak for the entire gay community. Guess what, GLAAD thinks differently and condemned Katy for her exploitation and even making fun of a trans man on Twitter.
Ur So Gay is about her ex being metrosexual or effeminate, so she thought he should have been gay. Yes, because all gay men are metro and effeminate. The amount of idiocy is astonishing.
If you seriously see no problem with the song(s), you are the one with the issues. Your own internalized homophobia is not cute. Go see a therapist.
I think labeling Katy as a "homophobe" is a bit excessive. I think she's just ignorant to what it is to be gay. She's the typical American girl who sees all gays as feminine and thinks that gays are meant to be her best friend and go shopping with her, which her fans prove by always saying, "HER BEST FRIEND IS GAY."
Lets stop beating this dead horse, what kind of response are you looking for? No one here is gonna agree with you considering the thread is called "Katy Perry - Teenage Dream" this is where the fans are.

THIS. PREACH IT!
this just show how disrespectful these people are.
coming to a thread in hopes to ruin someone.

I understand that you hate Katy, I know you're pressed, It clear that you're here to shade.... So gtfo!
I see, you're really naif to believe that Katy is copying Gaga (again!) for the Gay Rights. Those people represent a big percentage of the crowed that is interested in pop/girly music, love fashion & buying music today. Someone who's nice with them automatically becomes their fav. Gaga was the most passionant, but let me believe that this bitch isnt that "angel-on-earth" who only cares to make her fans (most of them belong in vulnerable social groups) happy with her music. If that was her intention why her first singles were so pop-ish, generic and HAD NO GAY MESSAGES?? Everyone is using gay people the last few years. I dont say that, everything that Gaga or every other girl do is bad or that they dont like gay people... they help those people as well as their careers! I dont listen to Katy's songs because she cool with gay people. Im ok with those people and I've got friends who are gay and I know by myself that their cool, and funny and the best people in the world!
Believe what you want, but Im not here for you shading Katy and saying everything that pops up in your tiny little head. Bye.
Firework isnt only for gays... i think you know that!

Typical Gaga stan who's laughing at everyone who's opposite to his opinion!
