What on EARTH is iconic about a boring straightforward close up of Britney Spears doing exactly what you expect from Britney Spears and every other popstar in the world: giving the camera a sexy look?
It's like I'm missing something because honestly I don't find anything iconic about that "Born This Way" cover. It really surprised me to see it in this list.
It has nothing to do with that cover being ugly. It's not iconic. It's a bit premature to even put that cover on this list. People talked about it for a little while like they do most of GaGa's antics and stunts. That doesn't make it iconic. They just ALWAYS have to include GaGa on every list. It's a bit much.
It's striking, memorable, immediately recognizable. I obviously wouldn't include it in any Top 10 list, but I don't see it being forgotten any time soon.
True Blue totally looks like old glamor shots of Marilyn Monroe, same hair and everything. It can't be iconic if it's based on already-iconic images.
I disagree because there's no one picture of Monroe you can point to and say "Herb Ritts copied that" for the cover. So it can still be its own entity.
It's striking, memorable, immediately recognizable. I obviously wouldn't include it in any Top 10 list, but I don't see it being forgotten any time soon.
Why? It's just a close up of her. B/c she's ugly/eyebrowless/demonic/savage/black & white anti-popstar looking?
