It just hit me that Talk That Talk is being released a little over a month and the promo for the 1st single hasn't even started. Why is she releasing an album in 2011 and that she cannot promote until 2012?

I honestly have no idea. It makes no sense to release this album in 6 weeks when she won't even be in the U.S. Not to mention this album is so unexpected & came right out of the blue.
Should've just waited until early 2012.

Why would they be dreadful? I don't expect them to be much worse than Loud, hopefully they exceed them. I'm talking 1st week of course.

We Found Love is top 5 on iTunes and rising quickly on radio. The album is still a month away. We just got the title last week, we still don't have a video, a cover, or a tracklist. Hype doesn't always just create itself, the ball will start rolling here pretty soon. I think you are too pessimistic sometimes.

The issue here is that her primary method of promo will be digital. If she wants to sell she needs to do some talk shows & such. The general public won't think that WFL is on a completely new album.

A video can only do so much. WFL is doing fine but it's not like the video is gonna get any major exposure. The only promo spot she has this year (US Wise) is on X-Factor but that's gonna be prerecorded. So the idea of the video getting major exposure to help boost the hype/sales like JLO did with OTF/LOVE? is gone. Even if the video is epic it wouldn't help that much. The album needs promo. She isn't promoting it this year and the US is fickle. Not to mention her fanbases here isn't strong enough to consistently push the album to decent numbers each week. Her album sales here will continue to dwindle each week to the point of cringe worthy numbers. At this rate the album will be struggling to go platinum in the US if she doesn't do something about it fast.

I don't think the public is as clueless as people try to make out. Whenever my local station plays WFL they always talk about "From Rihanna's new album out in Nov., here's WFL!" or something of the sort. And The 1.6 million people in the US (6 million WW) who have Loud obviously realize that WFL is from a new album. I agree, promo is needed, but I don't think TTT is gonna bomb to the pits of hell if their isn't any (which is to be expected).
