But Gaga is also a legit artist and she glorifies pop culture while parodying it. If this was meant to be a loving homage, it really doesn't come across that way. Like I said, the timing is just wrong. If they had done it a few months/years from now when K-Pop is peaking in fame, it would have been hilarious, but the timing of it makes it really tacky and it seems like they're deliberately trying to derail the K-Pop movement.
Who's to say they're not trying to glorify KPop too?

Because the lead dude who put all this together (David Lehre aka "Chad Future") is a comedian and he knew full well that people who fell for it and thought it was real, would react to it with disgust, and then you can imagine how that affects a person's perception of K-Pop once they make the association. The people who organized all of this were obviously smart so I find it hard to believe that they didn't know how this would effect K-Pop in a negative way.

He is a comedian and filmmaker who started in high school making Boyband parodies.
Quote:
The group’s creator and leader, David Lehre AKA Chad Future, is a filmmaker who got his start back in high school from creating boy band parody music videos with his friend. He’s since moved on to a semi-successful career writing, directing, and even television hosting, but “Facebook Official” to me seems more like a publicity stunt to further raise his profile by mocking the current K-Pop wave and tapping into the nostalgia for superstar boy bands, rather than a legitimate musical venture.
I understand that this is a parody but I can't help but wonder if they are doing it with malicious intent. Are they trying to make people hate K-Pop by portraying it in the worst possible light? Seems like it...
It's really not funny because it's going to create a lot of unnecessary cultural tension.
Meh. I'm all for parodying K-Pop/J-Pop, but this seemed a little too try-hard, like, an endless stream of corny gags that really only skimmed the surface of all things laughable in the world of K-Pop.
But damn, they sure nailed those ridiculous hairstyles.
