Well, you can just look at the linear notes of her albums. And when she was credited for songwriting, it was with several other songwriters. So, it's really not hard to tell that Rihanna doesn't have primary control over her music. Some, perhaps? But she's not a dominant factor. That's just based on the credits on her albums.

I took what she said as her just being saying that she would never want to recreate Loud and that she want's a new sound, not something just like the last record.

The album is nothing but about ****ing and clubbing, appropriate for her age you'd say - but it actually sounds like a mature album she put her all into. In terms of the production, her inclusion in actually being involved in the writing (i.e. not listed last in every song credit), and exploring with producers about the ideas and concepts she had at that time in her life.
Rihanna just seems so unrelated and impersonal to the music she's making. Bar Rated R, of course. But if she has to get abused to make something like that, then ch.

These statements are easy to make. You clearly are an intelligent member, so I think you should understand that Rih should be selling tour tickets in the US by now. And quite funny how you avoided Brazil. But I guess that's just not one of those countries where Rihanna is like totally famous.

It's not. I never said it was. But it's evident that rihanna is the yes man....she's a puppet at this point. She's gotten lazy, she's not really contributing to her work. It's like she listens to the demo of a song already written for her, and slaps her vocals on it. I just think rihanna is capable of doing more than that......

Yeah, I never really understood that either. In the past, I've reached the point where, as a stan, I could no longer support what the artist was releasing and so I just quit stanning and stopped bitching about it.

That's why it was so easy for Katy & GaGa to come and take her sales when they did - because she didn't work hard enough during her prime. She doesn't dance, seemingly has no desire to learn to allow herself to gain the respect of having a stage presence. She isn't a songwriter. I'll give her thumbs up on her vocals improving since she came out, though.

Have you seen either LGOE Tour or Loud tour? If you saw both you would see the VAST improvment of her movement skills.
She has been on tour and promoting other singles for the past two albums. It would be impossible to also write all her songs, do tons of choreography and release an album, she'd....die.
|
I've seen a lot of her tour videos. Sorry, I'm not impressed. She did more movement in the "Lovin'" & "SOS" music videos, so it's almost like she had began to learn and stopped.
And that's her own issue. If she cared a bit more about improving herself as an artist, she'd lobby against the label from wanting her to release albums so consistently. As long as they want their Holiday cash, she'll never have a break to do anything!

The only tour where Rihanna has ever had trouble selling tickets in the US on was the LGOE Tour. There's really no validity to the argument that she's not a force to be reckoned with in the US, seeing as only the tour in support of Rated R was unsuccessful. Neither the GGGB tour nor the Loud Tour were marked by low ticket sales in the US.
Also, that's simply a conjecture of yours that the crowd in Brazil "seemed small". Her ticket sales in Brazil have been fine.

Exactly. And it's pretty obvious OP has other faves. So what's the big deal?

I mean she usually has a team of twenty people to write one track. Do you believe she contributes the most?

I don't think the word puppet should be thrown around so easily, especially when Rihanna has been in complete creative control of the visual aspects of her last 2 eras, and even contributed writing credits to Rated R.
