Brit. doesn't have to worry about current album sales, because unlike Rihanna, Britney is already established and proved herself to be an album seller & tour seller LONG ago, she's the best selling female artist of the 21st century for a reason, Rihanna has still yet to grad a #1 debut album in America even after all her #1 singles, and she only recently sold over 200,000 copies in the 1st week with loud. Most people in the U.S. look to Rihanna for catchy pop songs, not her albums.
But I think it's cute you tried to derail the thread off topic because your faves is being discussed.

Cute how you stay bringing up the U.S. as if her career and achievements internationally are irrelevant.

!!! (except with less Bsource grammar)
She knows that hits make her money so she will continue to churn those out until her **** are dry. Had Rated R been a success she probably would still be serving that type of music, but all 7+ million of those people that bought GGGB didn't like the tea she offered. So she said **** it and decided to settle for 3+ million sold for each single and a successful album WW. Like it's not that hard to understand.

If people are eating up her "generic, fast food, whatthe****ever" music, then so be it. Once people stop buying the music, then maybe she'll change up her sound, but if you needy, picky, choosy stans are yearning for the Rated R days, then go pull up Rated R on your iTunes, listen to it, and stop bitching about her current sound.

I completely agree.
If Rihanna continued making albums like Rated R, she wouldn't be as successful as she is. So, people are basically suggesting that she should say "**** success" and make nothing but "deep" music. The industry doesn't work that way, though

In a matter of fact, yes. That line might be silly when you think of it that way, but actually, it can be interpreted in many ways that describe a person feeling while in confusion and depression. Surely it has more 'deepness' than "Oh Mama, Mama, Mama, I just shot a man down."
|
There's only a couple of lines that I would classify as being even remotely deep. I don't mind that, though, as I really liked "Stupid In Love" in the beginning. Sure, "Man Down" doesn't have incredibly deep lyrics, but I still love it. It isn't generic like "Stupid In Love".

I never said that. She ain't no deep artist tho. She's all about her image and milking the latest sound. It's the truth.

I can agree with that to a certain extent. Rihanna never portrayed herself as a deep artist, though. With her, what you see is what you get. I mean, what's so deep about a red wig and lyrics like "Want you to make me feel like I'm the only girl in the world"? I don't stan for her because I think that she's deep. I stan for her because I love her music, personality, image and who she is as a person.

Reo, BadBitch, whoever else. If you dont like her then LEAVE. Its that simple. Rihanna will re-invent her image every era. She will record the songs SHE wants. She will write if SHE wants. She will tour when SHE wants. And honestly - this is what every artist will do. Do what they want.
I just want you all to keep in mind that Rated R was NOT supposed to happen. Rihanna was a musician. Instead of keeping a diary or talking to a friend - she recorded Rated R after what happened. It would have NEVER happened if nothing happened with her and Chris Brown. Loud would have probably been next.
You have to let the past go. And if you love that era so much, she hinted at more dubstep.
Now close thread.

Honestly, my main problem with her is that she doesn't write most of her music. I honestly would be ok with her writing a song about taking a **** over a hot ass beat as long as she writes the damn lyrics. I do appreciate her reinventing herself each album and all of the different sounds she has, but that is one thing that honestly bothers me. I'm sure it'll come one day though, so I'm not completely tripping.
I love the production for WFL, but I'm craving live instrumentation so I hope the album has some songs that aren't completely digital.

LTWYL Part 2 was just an add on to get people to buy the album and milk whatever was left of the original's train. Don't act like it was meant to add anything else to the album.

umm, Britney contributes more to her artistry than Rihanna does. Britney is a damn good song writer, she has also composed several song, plays piano and has contributed her piano skills to her music, choreographed several videos, co-produced, composed music and has came up with the concept to many of her videos and she came up with the concept to her upcoming video 'Criminal' -- Rihanna has basically done none of what I listed, so my argument stands. And this thread has nothing to do with Britney because that's NOT who were discussing bruh.

Your right about that, "Man Down" isn't generic and it actually offers a different flavor of Rihanna's music, and that's why I love it (more than SIL.)

I honestly hope that this thread doesn't get closed. We needed a discussion like this.
And for the record, if anybody receives warning points, I didn't report any posts. As long as you can present your opinion in a mature way, I will respect you and what you have to say.
