Interesting considering she's had 4 consecutive Top 10's from the album so far.
I guess I'm missing something, how is that interesting? lol.
Anyway I Agree. Although it's very disappointing to see her only release the very commercial tracks of the album, it's like if you wanna be "edgy, daring and experimental" then why don't you go all the way?
Duca, are you surely not just on a trolling spree? Anything that Dr Luke touches is automatically mainstream and commercial. There is absolutely no escaping it. He is not indie, alternative, or "noncommercial". Every label hires him with the explicit directive to produce commercial material for their artists.
@ this thread... Duca is just... idk.. saying Femma Fatale is not a commercial album is just not in this world... I swear 99% ATRLers have never thought about it just a little bit...
But really, who thinks BTW is a straight-away commercial album is an idiot.. however it doesnt mean its a non-commercial album such as La Roux or Lungs or something.. it seems to be commercial but its not at the same time.. Thats exactly what GaGa was trying to do with this era. She wanted to experiment on the mainstream genre.
I agree but I personally thought BTW being unconventional would benefit it's sales. I was expecting radio station dj's to be like oh it's Gaga and it's something slightly different from the norm on mainstream radio, so let's play it. While it is far from flopping (i'm pretty sure BTW is #2 only to Adele), I still believe that it could've/should've done better given the circumstances.
so BTW translate more to HAC? 'cause I don't see the songs topping that chart either I guess the problem is that they sound really outdated and are kind of forgettable they have no longevity whatsoever yet Adele, someone who's obviously not the typical top 40 darling, is hitting #1 with actual piano-driven songs without hot choreographies, high-budgeted videos or tons of promo
Adelle made everyone else irrelevant this year. Everyone means those who's either weird, ****ty or looks like a drug addict. I think there's a slight shift of focus on pop after Adele.
For Gaga, I don't see this song doing her any good. Its gonna be a top 10 based on her name and then disappear. Tbh her weird schtick is on its last leg. She needs a hit real bad and soon. That won't happen with this album though, so if her next project don't deliver, some new artist pushing the weird envelope will arrive and take her spot.
As for Britney, I Wanna Go is the best pop dance song of the year, in my opinion. But the rest are forgettable. But the chart success of her songs still accounts for her legend longevity. She doesn't have to compete.
As for Katy Perry, she made her impact before Adele, and Last Friday Night is quite possibly one of the worst no.1 songs of all time. Her obsession with breaking records has to stop and go back to making real good songs like California Girls and Firework.
As for Beyonce, this year is a huge failure for her career, that's why she got pregnant. So typical. Mariah did the same in case you didn't notice. That is, flop followed by a baby.
Adele will dominate the rest of the year until the Grammys, then who knows after that. Cause in the pop world, there's always next year.
Judas + You & I were not the best choices. But did they have any better songs? Not really. Edge Of Glory did well, it was a catchy surefire hit in my eyes. Born This Way slightly underperformed in comparison to it's large amount of hype. Radio isn't digging GaGa as much this era. I'm sure she'll turn it around eventually.
This thread is an absolute mess of epic proportions...and I love it.
However, MTN seemed to be a surefire top 10 before, but then I thought; the reason Y&I did so well was because of the vmas. Had she not performed it, it would have flopped. Before that, TEOG was performed on every outlet to overshadow the fact Judas underperformed, in addition to it garnering promo from the Google endorsement of course, which leads me to think: What can Gaga do to make sure MTN's a hit? Because I honestly don't think it'll do as well as I thought it would have, without her doing something to make it stand-out.
MTN is just a poor excuse to save this era. It's prided on that an unconventional route was taken with this album. Finally after 4 singles they realize that releasing the most generic song as the 5th from the album is the way to go. I just think that this whole body of work has been a bit of a mess. The thing I like about TF and TFM was that while she was pushing the boundaries artistically, the music was still fun and very pop. BTW just tries way to hard to make some sort of controversial impact.

That's all.
Hush. Performing at Glastonbury >>>>> ANY commercial achievement by any of the other pop girls this year (or any year for that matter).
and DEATH @ getting pregnant because of a flop. Maybe she just wanted to have a baby..as she's been saying for YEARS

Y&I was already Top 10 in iTunes before the VMAs and would have gone Top 10 on the Hot 100 regardless.
It was the video that catapulted it from outside the Top 100, not the VMAs.
Alright, I guess I'm fine with her releasing this as a 5th single, if it's followed up IMMEDIATELY by the Club-banger-anthem-#1-hit-around-the-world Scheisse, Americano as 7th single, and then followed by the sex anthem Heavy Metal Lover just so we get a video for it.
