In a mess of generalizations, you made the claim that Gaga stans hang onto her because it is the only thing that gives them meaning. I am telling you that Gaga's power/influence is felt through her fans for sure. Just under five years, Gaga has a pretty solid fan base. She speaks to them, they speak to her. d) My point in the post was that a stereotype is a stereotype, it means **** all. If I said that you all Americans were fat and, requiring you had no knowledge of America/Americans beforehand, showed you a small slither of the population in photos (which all happened to be fat) then you may believe me. What I am saying is that we judge things on extremes when we first look at something; therefore not every Gaga stan is going to be a struggling teenager but a small (but relatively large (due to Gaga's appeal)) percentage may be. I was taking my assumption of a Navy member from primarily Rihanna herself on Twitter and on the illiteracy of them on this forum.

Oh I wasn't talking about you, just in general. You think if someone stans for Gaga, he's likely to be a misfit. By that logic I think this goes for most stans, not just Gaga stans, because it's not more 'normal' to stan for any other pop girl compared to Gaga ('normal' 'non misfit' people are more likely to be just casual fans if you generalise like that).
And let's not act as if Gaga's stanbase is the only defensive stanbase here

Look, Gaga doesnt make people commit suicide. But she certainly attracts suicidal people to like her. Let's be honest here. You do have a point here. But remember Gaga doesn't sing: "Kill yourself, it is better than be here". She sings: "I'm beautiful in my way, Cause God makes no mistakes. I'M ON THE RIGHT TRACK BABY I WAS BORN THIS WAY".
The only psychoanalytic reason I would find for this is, as you pointed out, many of her fans including me are misfits in society, whether it is at school, or at work, or at any kind of place. The defining fact relies on the concept that we are not the same, therefore, not all of us possess the strenght to hold on those loads of bullying. Some of us realize that at the end, it doesn't matter, and we gradually learn how to love ourselves. But others just keep being stigmatized because they are not strong mentally. So this is a probable end for them. That's all
I'm going to say in this thread for now. I will come up when someone comes up with something like the quote above and when many of you stop being 13- years old pre-puberts. |
