I think, from a production standpoint, it banks off the current popularity of the idea of "underground" electronic music, much like Take Over Control and LMFAO did. Maybe that's what they mean?

I must be one of those "idiots" your referring to, haha. The first time I heard it, when the build up happens I was waiting to hear "shake that"... thankfully I was greeted by Rihanna's voice instead. I love the song and I love whoever mentioned this sounds like it could have been on Flesh Tone. I am absolutely here for Rihanna going down that route.

I actually think We Found Love and Dancing On My Own have the strangest connections.

First and foremost, they both go for the whole transcendental dance floor experience.

In both cases, the dance beat is huge and energetic, but in Dancing On My Own I feel like it's more happy while there's an element of sadness in We Found Love. This is even stranger because the lyrics of DOMO are really heartbreaking, while the lyrics of WFL are far from.

They're both the dance-in-the-dark massive club songs, but with more subtle vocals that try to bring in a lot of emotion. As far as their electronic roots go, they actually sound very different, but provide a similar experience (the emotional dance floor experience).
