...then you've clearly never watched Florence live. It's OK to prefer Adele, just don't use inaccurate claims to make your argument "seem" correct.

Florence builds beautiful soundscapes with her music, epics if you will. Adele writes simple pop songs. They're great songs, but don't pretend that she's blazing a new trail of "edgy" pop music.

Adeles performances are certainly not bold and death at you judging Florence when you obviously haven't seen her live performances.

Adele has a beautiful voice but she you can't exactly call Florence average looking when comparing her to Adele, Adele's beautiful voice is not enough to pull off a great performance every time because her standing there belting in her funeral outfit time and time again WILL get old and her image is boring as hell. Nothing but black baggy clothes and close ups of her face, yeah how BOLD of her. Florence has music with more variety, her performances are lively and interesting even though she doesn't dance...

It worked for Aretha, Etta and all the other women who just stood there and used their voices in stage performances, and they had long luxurious careers.. It might get old to people like you who are into other types of performances, but there will always be people out there who are interested in a good LIVE vocal performance and nothing else. She's just not for YOU. GaGa is for you. Britney is for you. Not everyone performs the same, and not everyone likes these bombastic, gimmicky ass performances by some of these artists, just like you don't like artists just singing with black on.

I love Adeles music and she has a phenomenal voice BUT she is over-rated as hell and MOST of these stans are nothing but bandwagoners.

it is a different generation, there will always be a niche for a singer like Adele but she will not last in the mainstream pop dominated world. This is a phase and it will pass. People like a little more variation and excitement to their musicians these days. We all still listen to Aretha and Ettas classics but there is a reason why there are no new Ettas and Arethas that are around for long.
