Gaga did take a break though.
Alejandro was released in May/June 2010, And BTW was released in February 2011.

Its not her fault she had constant publicity everywhere she went, sweeped the VMAs & still broke records while she was on her break. That break felt like AN ETERNITY to the fans who jumped at any news about her, and clearly it worked since BTW smashed like no other Gaga singled before it chart wise.
