And what is your current obsession with Adele? At first it was GaGa. Last week it was Nicki Minaj. Lately it has been Adele. I thought she was a fad, but she's got that mind. I guess Ke$ha's two minutes are up, so you're looking for an artist to be into.
Anyway, the only thing Adele and Florence Welch have in common is that they are from the UK. Florence is the lead singer of a ROCK/ALTERNATIVE BAND, and Adele is a SOLO POP singer. They are not even the same, so these tired ass comparisons need to stop.
They are definitely comparable. The both are great singers, they both use strictly instruments, their music is pretty similar imo. Paul Epworth also produces their songs. It's useless to act like we are comparing MJ to Rebecca Black, these girls have obvious similarities.

It is in my nature to ask questions. I ask questions. I like answers. This is a
music forum, and my role within this forum is to question musical acts
and their artistry and that clearly makes you mad. Understandable.
We'll do lunch.

Drawing comparisons is a natural way to discuss topics and build
conversation. Again, this is a music forum, thus, comparison will
be made with musicians to create discussion.
Adele's voice moves me and that's why I've been a fan since "Chasing Pavements". Florence sounded like a shrieky mess to me when I saw her on the VMA's last year and that was that. But I hope Adele's next album is more fun like 19. 21 is very overrated IMO.
Adele's music is more commercial. Florence may not have had huge success in the US, but Lungs sold enough to be certified 4x platinum in the UK. They have very little in common, other than being talented British singers.
People are saying 'Florence > Adele' only because Adele is being more succesful.
Had 'Lungs' sold 10M and Adele flopped people would say how better and more deserving of success is Adele.
Adele is a girl with a nice voice. That's it, she has nothing but her voice. Florence has the whole package: the voice, the talent, the looks, the attitude... everything. Adele is an amazing singer, but she's one of the most boring artist i've seen.

So, Alanis Morrisette and Celine Dion are comparable because they are from Canada, sing, have live instrumentation in their music and have coochies.
Please, Adele's and Florence's music are not remotely similar. Let's be real here.
The only reason Vin made this thread is to shade someone. He has been doing it a lot on this board.
But I'll play along.
I love both for DIFFERENT REASONS. Florence is holding it down for the rock/alternative crowd. Adele is holding it down for the AC/pop crowd. They both satisfy my musical needs in different ways.
Yeah, I think Florence's vocals are much more "indie" sounding which basically means you don't really have to be able to sing well, you just need to sound distinctive. Her voice isn't nearly as powerful as Adele's, something that was made blatantly obvious when she was tasked with performing Think during the Aretha Franklin tribute on the Grammys this past year. She really couldn't keep up next to vocal heavyweights like Jennifer Hudson, Yolanda Adams, Martina McBride, and even Christina Aguilera.

I know this is the case for some. Some of them actually think Flo and Adele make similar styles of music, so we know what's up.

No ma'am. Adele's voice is more polished, Florence's voice is way more powerful. And what the hell are talking about? Florence ROCKED that tribute, she was one of the best there. Have you seen her live or heard all her songs? When this bitch gets heavy, her screams can put Christina to shame tbh.

I disagree. Florence rocked it. I was surprised she could do something like "Think." She definitely held her own.
