True... If the people ignore her materials, then she has no choice but to promote the hell of it to make a state that "I have an album, buy it". All she needs is a solid single ala Bad Romance to repeat such a success, but I guess that Bad Romance is not found in this album

2M in the US in less than a year is very good in my opinion. For "piss poor" single choices. If you say the music she has been putting out on the radio is so ****ing crappy than 2M is ****ing amazing... don't you think?
I'm not looking at this album launch as your typical album launch. She is setting this album up for a long shelf life. I think its a remarkable strategy, if its carried out the way I THINK she/label are doing. Throw out some decent but not so catchy tunes, then hit them with the harder hitting tunes. You start off slow than step on the gas. I think that's what they are doing, even if that's not the case, 5M+ WW is ****ing amazing for an album that most delusional's say is a big fat FLOP.

Well see, she doesn't have much promo that could be done, right?
Plus, her moving on to another single so quickly can only continue to hurt her.
I honestly think her best option is to just wait this one out while she still can.
I mean in 1 year we've already had 4 singles, having the 5th one peak in the same year is not going to be impressive. Considering 1 of the singles were #1 for like 6 weeks and came out in the 2 month of the year.
____
So, she should release Marry The Night (or other single, whatever, just saying what I think she should do) the week of November 14th-20th. Release the video the week of December 19th-25th, have some kind of promo before/the day of/shortly after New Years Eve, and let it ride until February.

I really don't think this is about a "long term" strategy at all.
She's in her third year as an artist, even if she just churned out Poker Face again, she'd have plenty of time to remake her image with another album later.
If anything, it indicates poor short-term planning without much of a back-up for singles that underperform.

I think another problem with the album is that simply:
People like different songs.
Many people love Americano, but there are that same number of people who hate it.
Many love Judas, but several find it to be over produced noise.
Some worship Marry The Nightsus, but some find it to be lacking something.
I could do the same thing for every song on the album. There's just not a single 1 track that EVERYBODY seems to love.

Looks like the Monster stanbase can have a civilized conversation about BTW's sales without churning the words ****, bitch, gurl bye and *insert-every-negative-adjective-you-can-think-of in a post*

Well lets just say this,
We are all speculators, we don't know the plans or reasoning behind these singles, right. You're saying she has sent bad singles to radio and that her material is more or less CRAP, 2M in the US for crap is pretty impressive.

This!!!
The album is showing some major polarity in its single for the stans, fans, casual listeners and buyers...

I agree with you. Oshii.
However, that is the point of the thread, to discuss the album and all that comes with it.
We can always talk about single choices and debate everything about them, and we have and will continue to do that it seems.
But, we all cannot deny that even if BTW's sales aren't what we want, aren't what we expect, aren't the best, we can all say that it is certainly impressive considering the material (and the press, and the competition, and the release date, and the quirky nature of the era itself).

I think thats the same for every album of her tho, even unreleased songs.
I think for the most part everyone agrees that Bloody Mary is brilliant
(I'm not here for people predicting success either, GTFO)

Absolutely.
We don't have to look no further than this thread to support that. We argue/debate which singles should be released CONSTANTLY.
We never come to a major consensus. However, lately, I think we've come close with MTN. Most people in here want her to release MTN next. If not they are team Scheisse or Hair (there are a few exceptions but they don't hold many numbers).

I think this album era is just testing the patience of buyers in all the wrong ways lol.
Taking a gamble and being experimental is certainly okay, if it actually pays off. Otherwise it looks erratic and sloppy, as if the artist has no direction.
Gaga had a uniform push for dance music during TF, really shaking up Top 40 radio a bit.
Then now with BTW she's jumped from the 80s to some classic rock, then onto country all the while discussing equality and the bible.
It's confusing to the public.

Everyone I know that is a fan of Gaga in real life think that Bloody Mary is the best track on the album.
It's one of the most crafty songs she has ever made. Regardless of the success that it could or could not have, it's still an amazing song.

Totally,
I have said this one too many times on this forum. I'm a fan/stan of "Gaga" the brand, I'm fascinated by the smoke and mirrors, and manipulation . The music is a nice bonus and she has yet to let me down.
Maybe it's why I'm so impressed by her numbers, because its the brand she/label have created that is selling instead of just the music.

The problem is that the public doesn't know the progress of Gaga from TF-TFM-BTW era unlike the internet junkies that follow her every move 24/7... So it's a big "huh?" for them about these "shifts" Gaga is making...

Her changes have been to rapid IMO.
She looks like she doesn't really know who she wants to be as an artist rather than appearing flexible and artistic (which is what she's probably trying to show.)
That's what a lot of people mean when they say the era has been managed personally. Fans get all butt-hurt and say it's a personal attack on Gaga, but then everyone will agree the switch between singles has been really abrupt.

Well, to be honest, I see most artists as a brand. That's all music is to me.
Pop is similar to jeans.
Some people like Gaga (skinny jeans, or something, idk).
Some people like Katy (low-rise).
etc,..
Or it's like clothing brands, Old Navy, American Eagle, etc,.
I don't know of many people who only buy 1 brand of clothing, but some people have a preference towards one or the other.
The fact that Gaga has created so much interest in her "brand" in such a short time is remarkable.
You don't have to look at just her album sales or her single sales.
Look at the magazine covers that she's on. Usually, it's an increase in sales.
Look at the duet album that she's going to be on.
Look at the perfume that she's going to release.
Look at Polaroid.
There are so many things associated with "Gaga" that people invest their time in. It's truly remarkable.
