I don't get why people are posting numbers in this thread. Rihanna's an artist too, she deserves all the success she's getting. And all records are meant to be broken anyway, it's just a matter of time.
Katy might be the one, though, since she has five under her belt from just one album + her debut = Six number ones in only two albums, while it took Rihanna four albums + a feature to get to six.
Well once upon a time Mariah was racking up #1's like it was no one's business then real life took over. But Rihanna has better circumstances, as unlike Mariah it isn't likely that she's going to drastically change the sound of her music and image to the extent that she did anytime soon if ever. And even if Rihanna breaks Mariah's record, she has plenty of others(such as her 5 five singles hitting number 1, longest running single at #1.) that are nearly as prestigious. Rihanna passing her won't take anything away from Mimi and her legacy. And don't count Mariah out just yet.
I think that if Mariah wants to continue to score #1's, she should do what she used to do: make POP records, and create a remix for Urban radio. She used to freakin' redo the entire single with new vocals and everything. She used to work hard, and thus she was rewarded with #1's. She should do that for this next project. It wouldn't be a bad thing to release a dance record. For heaven's sake, that ringtone "Time Of Your Life," which was years ago sounds like some of the music that's huge on radio today. She needs some of that.

Even with her "flop" album, Rihanna still got 5 week staying #1. I bet y'all said the same thing in 2008 & 2009 and look what happened. Two albums constructive flops and ZERO #1's. While snatched up 3 #1's from ONE album and sold over 8 million. The same year Mimi made her "comeback". That record is Rihanna's now. Y'all just to go find some way to cope. Bye.

what flop album honey??? you must be talking about memoirs which flopped WW not in the US. (her only WW flopped album) I never said she would get a #1 in 2009, I didnt even know what this site was lol. And in 2008 mariah score a #1 and broke umbrella record as the highest amount of digital records in one week.(touch my body) E=MC2 album sales were good and singles performed moderate. and Mimi comeback was in 2005(which rihanna got slayed to dust) from being away from the public.I dont care about the record is now rihanna. good for her
