We all know how hard she went in for In The Zone, but some of her fans ignore that she began recording for Blackout even while pregnant with Jayden (late 2005-2006). Not just randomly recorded tracks while she was partying/drinking after birth/divorce.

Some of that material was intended for "Original Doll" though.

The outtakes are much better than some of the tracks that made the cut.

In The Zone most definitely had filler...

I completely agree with a reviewer who was reviewing Femme Fatale. He was doing a look back on some of her work, and he said something along the lines of "It was Britney who elevated the music on ITZ, not all the actual music itself. Everything surrounding the album raised the bar, the music videos, and the performances..but not the music itself". He went on to compare it to LOUD and The Fame, which he also said benefited from the very same thing...which was Rihanna and GaGa elevating the album, not the music.

Showdown, The Hook Up, Brave New Girl , Early Mornin, Boom Boom, and Outrageous were borderline filler...they could barely hold up to the albums highest points..which were the singles. If any other artist release those tracks, I wouldn't even give it a second play.

I love ITZ, but more for everything that surrounded it. The involvement, the epic performances, and the videos. But it's my least favorite album from her overall. I even listen to Oops more than ITZ

The only thing special on the original is the flute which doesn't make a big difference at all. The remix has amazing stems that give the song life.

"Loud" and "The Fame" are utter trash. It is an insult to compare any of her albums to those.

"Showdown" is brilliant, "Boom Boom" as well. "Early Mornin'" is heaven. Pure art. "Brave New Girl" is fantastic, and I still remember how excited she was about her little rap. "Outrageous" *****, despite the curse. One of her best bridges ever.

"The Hook Up" is very playful and very Britney, but I can't believe that it was originally supposed to be the album's second single. Even though it's the ultimate Britney summer song.

If I remember correctly, Jive cut the Original Doll plans after she premiered "Mona Lisa" in January 2005. Which resulted in a lot of that material going towards Chaotic/B In The Mix. I remember Danja talking about recording with her while she was pregnant, plus of course all the Sean Garrett/JR Rotem, etc. talk in mid-2006/early 2007. That was all Blackout.

Original Doll outtakes are varied, since no one really truly knows what was meant for what. The argument also consists of "oh that was meant for OD; no that was for ITZ; definitely just a demo", etc. Even Britney era comes into the discussions.

In the end Blackout was a long process, not just random doings. I do agree "State of Grace" should have made the cut.
