The epic quality is mainly because it was an entirely new thing to everyone and showed us a new side. There's really nothing else she can do that's "new" to us.



She raked in those views because she was new, though, and her songs were huge hits. Telephone was panned by critics because it was a hot mess, Alejandro made people hate her, Beautiful Dirty Rich sucked, so did Just Dance (imo), so your logic doesn't really hold up. Judas is about to hit the 100,000,000 mark and You and I is steadily rising and people love the video...

The thing I find funniest is that if we didn't know who directed her recent videos, we wouldn't even know if they were professionally-directed or not, thus meaning no one would be able to use that against her.

I understand the desire for a professional director 'cause most of y'all seem to want another Bad Romance (not gonna happen), but I don't get why people don't want Gaga trying to get better. Wouldn't it be great if she developed as a director and then put out an amazing video? She would get all the credit and it'd prove to everyone that she can do it. I mean, the You and I video is phenomenal, imo, and people still aren't happy.

I do want Gaga to get better. I just want Francis Lawrence for MTN, because I really feel like the two of them working together on that song would result in a truly epic video.

You can't use circular reasoning as receipts for such a claim. Actually, you can't even make such a claim since so much relies on personal taste.

Personally, I loved Telephone because it was a hot mess. It was perfectly in tune with the underlying meaning of the song and it was -in my opinion- brilliantly executed. I'll concede that the concept of the video may not have been appealing to most BUT just imagine how much of a disaster it would've been without the guiding hand of a professional director!

The way I see it, if she wants to do her concepts and have no conceptual input from a director, fine. But at least have one there to smooth the edges and not make it such a choppy mess. Even Y&I which is the first video of the era that I thoroughly enjoyed took me a few watches to understand thanks to the abysmal editing.
