I love that hair and I love how she's always posing.

Sales and hit potential, yes. I seriously doubt BTW catches up with TF(M). In the U.S., she is already on single #4.
You guys act like a decline is something bad; it's inevitable, especially when you are following up a hugely successful era.
Gaga's former "hit potential" came from the type of music she created (radio-friendly) and not from her popularity, though. BTW is hardly radio-friendly, with the exception of a few songs, so no one should expect The Fame-type hit singles. Arguably 2010 was her biggest year to date and we're saying she's overexposed now? I don't know.
And I'm not acting like anything, I'm genuinely curious. I don't mind if she's "declining" because that's not why I like her. I just want to understand a few things, thus why I'm asking.

Gaga already became a household name only months into her career, the same cannot be said of those other girls.
That makes sense.

When will I ever learn that I should not talk negative about Gaga in this thread?
People who say this kind of **** are annoying. No one is attacking anyone. Some people think Gaga's this and some people think Gaga's that. You can say whatever you please, but no one at the current moment is saying anything bad to one another.
When people say Lady Gaga is overexposed, it makes no sense to me. Rihanna has been putting out album after album for the past five years, Nicki Minaj has been on upwards of 30 songs in the past two years, and Katy's singles are everywhere. Lady Gaga is not overexposed.
I also think it's hilarious that y'all freaked out over it falling one spot. The fact that a ballad is up with all of the party songs shows how powerful it is atm.
Gaga is more exposed than them because she's made more of an impact on pop culture. This isn't a bad thing though, and Europe has a chance to get its act together next year with HML, Sheiße, Bloody Mary & the BTW ball
However, as she's clearly said, each song on the album is like a drug.
Different people end up addicted to different drugs (or things, to speak generally).
So, I think the problem is more that the songs on the album strike only a select group of people.
Mhm, that make sense. Most songs that blow up are incredibly, I don't want to say "generic", but in terms of reaching out to everyone, generic. Like, Scheisse would only be liked by people who like Eurotrash pop. Government Hooker would only be liked by people who like darker, grungier pop. I really don't think Gaga was worrying about being radio-friendly, though. Or maybe she was and she thought she could change things like she did with The Fame.
Do you guys think Lil' Wayne's new album could possibly sell more in its first week than BTW did? He had an album sell 1,000,000 in a week, didn't he?

i think that description fits exactly for me. it might sound weird but if im listening to the album, its like an intense intoxication that after a while i need a break from so i listen to something else or BTW song which doesnt feel as intense.
To be fair, Cap10Planet gave a perfectly reasonable answer. While it may be true that Gaga is not nearly as overexposed as she once was, she is still constantly reported on. MV channels hype her new videos far more than any other artist. She is in the papers when she dresses oddly, she is in the papers when she dresses normally, as that, for her, is odd.
Equally, BTW has been a successful album, and no-one should say otherwise 4.5M in a few months is a great total, and just because it hasn't matched her debut, as Cap10 said, it was a truly huge album which (don't forget) only managed 6M before it was re-released. BTW should eclipse the original total of The Fame by the end of the year.

IIRC it was a very close 1M, and the record label had to do a lot of discounting and promotion to get it there. Plus, album sales were higher in that sales period.
I know that a decline is inevitable. Every artist, even Michael Jackson and Madonna, have them. But I just don't see a decline in Gaga's sales and popularity yet. More than one million followers in Twitter by month don't show that, and, like someone said, BTW will most likely outsell TFM by March or April 2012 or even a little before. I know there will be an era where sales will be low, and she becomes less popular, but I really don't think it's this one.
