Are people actually trying to give Lady Gaga credit for making country-pop happen because one of her songs had a vaguely country remix that no one paid attention to? Can we please just all remember that Taylor Swift exists and has been winning over teenage girls to the genre for the past five years. If anyone is bringing country music new fans that will allow it to blow up into the mainstream again, it's that girl.

I agree in a sense. But they are going in opposite directions. Taylor went from country to pop and Gaga is attempting to go the opposite direction, which is much more difficult, really. In all reality, it probably won't happen anyway.

nope ur wrong...gaga invented the wheel, after all
The funny thing is Y&I is probably more country than some Taylor Swift songs.
This is so true ... I mean Taylor Swift songs have country instrument & all (You & I don't ...), but they don't have the country swag, a country soul, You & I have it ...

2 Foster the People - Pumped Up Kicks 0.8640
3 Rihanna - Cheers (Drink to That) 0.6958
Taylor Swift is country? I know she's labeled as that, but she's pretty much pure teen pop.
Her music falls more into Katy Perry territory (I could totally see her singing the song Teenage Dream) than country.
You're going too far gurl ... Taylor produce & wrote her songs & every song she done have substance ... You never wondered why she won so much Grammy ? Go listen to Fearless & Speak Now more attentively ...
Katy Perry ... it's just Dr Luke crap ... (Recycled Kelly Clarkson's, Kesha's or Pink's work ....)

I really like Taylor and admire her talent as a songwriter and producer. I agree she's more talented than Katy. I'm just saying her music doesn't sound country to me at all.

I don't think people were citing the Country Road Version of Born This Way which sucked and flopped and isn't known by the American public. I do believe that they are referring to You and I, a country/rock influenced song, being in the top 10 of iTunes.
