Y&I couild be LoveGame of this era anyway. Strong in US/Aus/Canada, weaker elsewhere.

The stuff released by Bruno Mars and Putbull is lapped up by kids and chavs all over the UK. GaGa's songs aren't simplistic and juvenile enough to be embraced by kids who don't know any better. Like it or not, she's becoming much more of an albums artist than a singles artist now. This is a GOOD thing in my book. It shows that grown adults are buying her music, not kids. The only drawback is that she needs to expose adults to her songs and that means performing on TV shows.

Something like "You & I" simply isn't silly or dancey enough to get played in clubs, which is where a lot of the singles in the UK get exposure to young music buyers.

Oh and by the way, I don't think that flying to the UK(still one of the 5 biggest music markets on the planet) once every single release to do a major performance is too much to expect. That seems perfectly reasonable to me.

And that's why they don't sell albums over here. Rihanna's Loud has been a smash in the UK precisely because she did lots of TV promo. Those other American acts you talk about might have some cheap, nastly hit singles, but people aren't buying the album.

And I clearly need to repeat myself yet AGAIN, that GaGa's music right now simply isn't generic or trashy enough to garner enough attention on its own. If her music sounded just like everyone else's, she'd have less problems selling singles in the UK, but thankfully she's better than that.

No one was suggesting she shouldn't go, we were saying it's odd everyone keeps saying she needs to come back over and over.

No US artist goes to the UK as often as her and Rihanna.

Exactly. It doesn't have to be a huge big deal either. Just sit down for a 15 minute chat with Ross and then sing the hell out of You & I at a piano in a nutty costume. That's all it would take.

I'm Brianna (Bibs is a nickname). I'm 18 from the UK. And I can tell you, out of the big US females I think they all need to do promo here apart from Rihanna who is HUGE - unless they get practically ignored.

And no US artist has success like she and Rihanna do. Take Rihanna as an example. She performed once on XFUK in 2009 to promote Rated R and it had no #1s and sold around 500k. Then she performed 3 times on XFUK in 2010 to promote Loud and managed 2 #1 singles and a 1.3M selling album. Gaga needs the same exposure; all pop acts do. Adele is the only exception.

And it is. She has already performed the song on a number of US shows and the MTV awards are in just a few days. After that, there's not much else she can do. The song is taking off nicely in the US anyway and once the VMAs are done, she needs to get her ass over to the UK where the song is currently doing absolutely *nothing*.

Yep, XF is a huge platform, Gaga needs to get on there this series.

You're confusing my posts with the other person that added to what I already said. I never said she shouldn't go to the UK, I was simply pointing out the contrast between Gaga and other artists on iTunes when it comes to UK promo line ups.

I don't necessarily agree with the Rihanna comment, though. Rihanna is no bigger than Gaga in the UK, but her promotion for Loud was insane. Take Rated R as an example of an era she didn't promote here, and you'll see she needs promotion as much as the others. If it wasn't for Rude Boy, that era wouldn't have seen summer of 2010...

She's going to the radio festival and Emmy's in September in the US, and she's in India in October.
I'm not sure that she's heading to Europe. (Idk? maybe)

And doesn't You and I still need to get added to Radio 1 and Capital FM later this week? Partly why it's not moving much yet.
