If the remix didn't have an impact on "Last Friday Night" hitting #1, then it would be technically deserved.
However, all of Michael's #1's were solo and had a larger cultural impact.

Why are people equating good marketing strategy (after all, it worked didn't it?) to "desperation?" Let Katy have her accomplishment and don't be so vile about it.
Also, stop comparing her to MJ because we all know how ridiculous that is. She's NOT the new MJ, she's not as legendary as MJ, but she's a modern day pop radio phenom and should be commended for that.
I hate how some of you act like you like Katy, then when it comes to this you act like she's the scum of the earth. Get over it. This is 2011. The industry isn't the same as it was when MJ set the record.

OMG this is amazing!! she deserves all this! Teenage Dream era is probably one of the best eras of the last decade! All singles from this era deserve to be #1.

They have two different styl;es of pop and voices. First off, he's a man, she is a woman. But if you want a great vocal performance try this:
She still sounds annoying as **** and that isn't that much of a great vocal performance, but I applaud you for trying!

Sure maybe, she doesn't have a better voice than him, but no matter what performance anyone puts up of Katy, if it is really good, the response is always something along the lines of: "It isn't that good"
