IKR? it's just impossible to have an even bigger era than The Fame Monster, it's just pure gravity

I know, nobody was calling her desperate or contrived during TF/TFM eras. I'm sure I could go back and read the initial reactions to her first VMA performance in '09 and NOT see those same exact adjectives being applied to her over and over again.
Call it a matter of degree, but it's still a distinction you have to make. The gimmicks aren't the "problem," they are a significant part of what got her to where she is/was. People not taking to the singles released thus far is the real issue, if anything.

Perhaps, but it didn't have to be so steep. Nobody expected the wheels to fall off so quickly.

Maybe that's why this type of thing is important, to some extent. I don't think her career is in decline so much as it is stabilizing. She has a severely loyal fan-base that is supplemented by a wide array of musical influences. I think it's important that everyone in the world knows her name, but a lot of her work on Born This Way seems almost more focused on showing niche markets that she appreciates their type of music.
I don't know. Certainly, I understand how this could be a further blow to her career. But, I'm also kind of sure it might work out well for her. To be able to shock or polarize for this long in the digital era is astounding in itself. I mean, let's be real. Gaga is immensely talented, but that is only related to her current success insofar as it took her realize that theatricality was what she needed to supplement her music with.

There's no doubt it's going to be a huge challenge, even for Gaga. The thing is, Gaga rose to the top like this. She has been showing a different side of her through her music lately, but people expect Gaga to shock. Sure, she doesn't have to do it all of the time, and to some extent, she's realized that. But she is Lady Gaga and performance art is her passion.
Gaga stans: don't be too worried, she's already pissed off most of the people that hate her. She can pull this off.
Everyone else, I apologize that if this is true, she will not only completely overshadow all of your faves (again), but she will produce one of the biggest news stories of the year (again) from an event that isn't too high-profile. Oh, well.

If you take a closer look and realise that she opened with two million copies in her first week you will note how front-loaded the sales were and how fast they fell off in the coming months due to a lack of hit singles to sell the album.
It doesn't matter what her next single is going to be. Judas was supposed to be a huge smash, it flopped. TEOG was supposed to be huge, it was an average top ten hit. You and I has yet to enter the top 100 on iTunes despite considerable airplay and substantial buzz. It has all the makings of a flop.
It will create major headlines, but if it doesn't sell albums then what's the point? She's not going to come out of it looking good.
I know theatrics and gimmicks are the same thing. I like to vary my vocabulary, dear.

Judas Was The Largest Mess Ive Ever Heard In My Life
TEOG Was One Of Her Largest Radio Hits. It's Still Increasing On Two Radio Formats While Y&I Is Starting To Blow Up.
I Agree With You About Her "Popularity" Slightly Fading, But Saying Her Career Is In A Decline Is Just Going Too Far. Her "Popularity" Wasn't Always Going To Be The At Her BR Peak. Nobody Can Be That Huge For That Long Of Time.

She's Taking Risks With This, And That's What She's Known To Do
It Can Be A Large, Messy Disaster, Or It Could Be Something Completely Different In Which We Are Not Seeing. Either Way It's Promo To Her Name, To Jo , And Without A Doubt Im Sure It WIll Increase Her Album Sales (Which Are What Now Out Of The Top 20? )

TF and TFM each would have sold about 7-8m on their own terms without the bundled release. I don't know why anyone ever thought it was reasonable to expect more than 6-8m for BTW when that was what she was selling as the hot new cultural phenomenon.

Yes but that album didn't sell 13 Million copies in three months, it was over a long period of time. The sales for Born this Way were obviously going to be front-loaded just look at the huge hype she had for the album. It's 100% obvious that the sales for the album were going to be front-loaded. Worldwide the sales haven't been bad at all, she still pulls 100K worldwide for supposedly as you say not having any "hit singles".

If she shows up as a man, I will be very disappointed in her hosting.

She didn't take herself so seriously early on in her career. When Just Dance and Poker Face blew up she may have been slightly eccentric but most people took her as another plastic pop tart. In her early interviews she mentioned regularly that she went to the same school as Paris Hilton, and whether that was intentional or not it painted a picture of her in many peoples' minds. Theatrics are not necessarily a bad things provided in how she uses them.
I agree that the singles released thus far have been a major issue. With the exception of Judas they have all been lacklustre, and amongst the worst on the record. The album is great overall, but the singles release don't sell it well. HML, GH and Scheiße should have been singles. They would have been risks, but I'd rather see her flop for doing something different rather than underperforming for being safe.

I like the tea you have been spilling since your return.
Gaga stans worship TEOG when it's barely listenable

This debate has become way too redundant. I think that when it comes to Lady Gaga, the bloom is off the rose and no stan's paragraph is going to change that. Sorry!
Oh and Celestial, TEOG is her best single since BR. Her sickening ego just ruined the video.

You Need To Stop Typing Everything Like It's An Article Headline.
Seriously, that takes effort, it's not like accidentally leaving your CAPS LOCK on. It's unbelievably unnecessary. Stop it.
