The fact that is was researched alone should spark debate. Why are black people the only ones being researched? Furthermore, why are the hashtags about black people automatically attached to black people? No one knows who started a hashtag, why did they not mention other hashtags like #Demi&Cutters which were more than likely started by Caucasian youth? Why did they feel the need to group the words white & wealthy when mentioning Myspace users and then group African Americans with the words ghetto, and child molesters? Why do these studies always come off looking like another way to attack black people? Because that is exactly what they are.

I'm guessing black people are supposed to be the minority because they're black, right?
Exactly...
Racist.

Well black people are a minority in north america/europe and thats where most twitter users come from so i can see how some may wonder why.

It's not. Like I said, yes, the article is questionable. The facts are not. There's nothing wrong with researching race, demographics, and cultural differences.
This is something that is REAL in America.
I don't have receipts to show you, but it's no secret that broadband internet is expensive and not a reality for low-income families. Also, look no further than the commercials for Metro and Boost and other cell phone companies to see who they target. Are those commercials racist?
|
Yes those commercials are racist...and you are starting to sound it

By wondering why there are more, they were obviously expecting there to be less. Why is this?
Making a difference between members of a website due to skin colour is racist.
It shouldn't even be an issue.

They also researched White, Asians, etc population in Twitter, it's just that there are more Black people in Twitter that's why it became the headline. It'd be boring for them to title the article 'White People #2 in Twitter account'.
Have you gone to school? They always ask you to check the box of the race you belong to. It's not racism, it's a survey to study demographics.

This is racist, plain & simple.
1. I don't run out to buy new phones.
2. I have a macbook pro and I do not use the internet on my phone, never have!
3. I rarely ever use Twitter, I prefer Tumblr.
4. Various points made in this article were very racist and stereotypical.
5. Whoever wrote it can jump in a hole and die.

Back in the mid-2000s, MySpace experienced something like "white flight" as wealthier, whiter users came to see it as a digital "ghetto" full of child molesters and headed for the literally lighter-colored Facebook. But Twitter seems to be doing just fine in fostering a diverse user base while not making anyone too uncomfortable (or, rather, making everyone equally uncomfortable all the time.) Perhaps this heralds a new golden era of E-race relations! Stupid hashtags like #thingsblackpeopledo and #fatindiebands living side-by-side in the trending topics.

Ugh, that **** was just ridiculous. The same goes for black men in the gay community.

All that matters. The fact that people even think to care about **** like this is just annoying and borderline racist. It needs to be dropped.

Which facts? Find them for me. Because outside of the survey statistics which by the way we don't have hard numbers for, the rest is ********. There were 505 students, how many of them were black? How many of them grew up in urban neighborhoods? This is the point im making, the survey they did proved absolutely nothing, because Twitter is filled with way more black youth than that surveys answers compiled. And as far as your Broadband internet argument, it's not only false, but its also very ignorant and racist, because you instantly associated the words low-income with African American families.
