Clearly it was an under table deal with gaga , her label and amazon.

Yeah, I see what you mean, there really wasn't much demand for Born This Way that week. What a terrible business decision on Amazon's part.

Well Ego was a hit on urban radio and served it's purpose as it was intended to urban audience and Halo to pop...

almost every one of your faves singles in the last 10-20 years has been released with an EP of remixes aimed to boost its chart performance
whats the difference with getting a big name to do a HUGE remix to get a #1?
but there is no excuse for selling your album for next to nothing. thats just desperate

It's ridiculous to say all 440K of those people only bought the album because it was $0.99. I bet at least 100-150K if those people would've still bought it that week at full price. She probably would've still opened with 800-900K, give or take a bit.
I think discounts are fine. The economy is terrible & it's friendly to consumers without downgrading the quality of the music. However, the remix trend has become a trend that downgrades the quality of the actual music being released.

What's more desperate, releasing a remix before it smashes or when it badly needs that push to reach that certain need of a peak??? I pick the latter

neither. its actually more desperate when the remix doesnt smash at all.

The difference with Britney / Rihanna / Katy is that they released their remixes as chart/sales boosters during the ORIGINAL song's peak. Beyonce at least released her remix as the ONLY song...NOT a booster.

Right! Like Video Phone. The original version was never released, only the remix was released.

Are people forgetting how in-demand Born This Way was first week? The madness it caused?

It's her Sophomore LP album and many months of hype, there's bound to be a demand
If only she released it on a holiday, she could have benefited more from it...

But think of it like this, I'm not a huge GaGa fan, but The Edge of Glory was my ****.. Before the album came out I never had bought it legally. So when Amazon's deal rolled around, why on earth would I not jump at the chance to have not just the Edge of Glory but also the rest of the album for a price that is less than what I would have had to pay just for Edge Of Glory, not to mention even LESS!
