SFTTR is only a few spots higher and it's mainly because of that promo late last week. If SFTTR continues to outpace SLY, then I'll be okay to say that SFTTR should be the next single. However, SLY has been outpacing SFTTR most of the time, so that's a better indication of what the public truly wants.

Well, wouldn't the underperformance be explained the by the fact that the single preceding it (released before the album) sold a million copies and the fact that the album has sold like hotcakes?

Set fire to the rain is an amazing song. Honestly.

It's only song from the album that i've heard and been impressed by. SLY and RITD are both pretty dull imo.

It should've done better. If anything, the exceptional performance of SLY should've given it a free ticket to the top ten. Selling a million hasn't hurt previous artists that have done so, like GaGa, KOL, or BEP.

Nobody could refuse such a strong performance by Adele at the Brit Awards, which is the reason why it did so well over there in UK. Let's hope Adele would give a performance of similar scale at VMA for us to see similar results. US listeners are quite unpredictable with ballads. SLY might struggle.
