I don't even know why it's up for debate. I thought it was pretty obvious, but I guess not. S&M was a very successful single on its own, but it was stuck at #2 and blocked from #1 constantly by a slew of different songs that outsold it each week. The remix with
BRITNEY was what gave it the opportunity to have that one week where it outsold the competition by a fair amount and grab the number 1 on Billboard. I don't think it's worth arguing with people that can't see it though.
